Is there anyone around who does face painting? Some questions.

DC2 has been enjoying Glow-Up and watching theatrical make up videos on youtube. For her birthday she would like to get a kit of her own to begin learning how to do it herself. She definitely wants to do the more face-painty/cosplay/theatrical type of stuff rather than creating fashion looks. I'd be really grateful if anyone can advise on what to buy, both in terms of the paint and tools, and also any books/templates for getting started. Many thanks!

I used to use Snazzaro paints, sponges are good

Well brushes, buy big rolls of brushes from amazon or wish or similar...
People often recommend Snazaroo paints but personally I find them infuriatingly inconsistent, and prefer some of the more pro brands that are heavily pigmented, like diamond fx.
Good paint is non negotiable.... with bad paint it’s really hard to create anything impressive. With good paint , the white can be painted over dark colours with a perfectly opaque finish, like liquid chalk on a blackboard.
Latex sponges are handy (cheap is fine) , pots of cotton buds, sensitive baby wipes too.
There are great glitters available and shimmering dusts too... a little selection really make the colours pop.
Some flat brushes are useful. There are some palettes that look striped , with perhaps three neon colours. With these you can pick up a rainbow on the brush and create quick effects.
This type are very popular with instagram face painters, so if your daughter is watching these type of tutorials she’ll probably be familiar with these. She can make these herself by slicing up cakes of paint into strips and creating her own little palettes.
Also face paint is easily mixed. So buy the best quality primary colours rather than a larger selection of inferior paints if cost is an issue (they can be pricey!)

You can find diamond fx on firetoys.co.uk I think.
They also have the split cake types of paint (I couldn’t remember the name!)

Amazon has a brush roll set, it’s about £12 and is Called something like ‘pink start makers brush set’.(?!) It’s actually great and the brushes never seem to lose their shape or lose hair. You get loads and they’re great for pro face painting

Thank you both so much! I will have a good look at all the recommendations.
