I have so many threads about my 12 week old sleep shenanigans .
So sorry if im gna ramble. So im a FTM and my 12 week old sleeps at 12.30am no matter what I do. ( till 9.30 am with 3 wakes for feeds at night)
So iv tried relaxing music, massage, calming singing, white noise, rocking, dummy..
So first few days iv been doing that at 11.00pm so that its not a big jump from 12am. No luck... But to top it off..today has been the worst.
As you can probs tell from the time im posting this in sheer desperation.
He was doing 10pm sleep 2 weeks ago( prior to his circumcision).
Now everythings gone tits up..lol..Iv tried sleeping him 10 mins earlier each day..no luck...iv tried waking him up earlier..no luck
Iv tried sorting out his day naps ( 30 min napper) ..no luck..Co sleeping..no luck
Its clearly not right for a 3 month old to sleep at 12.30am and only get 8 hours and then max 2 hrs in day naps in total.
Im soo worried and absolutely shattered.
Help please..stressed and exhausted mamaConfused

Have you tried painkillers for the circumcision?

I know it’s not supposed to hurt but... (forgive roundabout explanation) years ago I did a psychology degree. One of the topics was developmental psychology and the prof was talking about if there were any differences between boy and girl babies. Big study în famous US teaching hospital had found that yes, boys cried more than girls. Other places repeated the study and found the same results. Then some brits did the same study and found no differences. Other Uk studies found the same result - no overall differences.

This obviously led to consternation - what was the difference between these babies? They eventually realised that in the US the boys were typically circumcised whereas they weren’t in the Uk. Re-evaluated the data looking at 3 groups - girls, uncircumcised boys and circumcised boys. They found no difference between girls and uncircumcised boys but circumcised boys cried more which they eventually put down to it hurting - despite the fact that common lore at the time was that it didn’t hurt. They used some pain intervention - could have been cream, can’t temember now what it was sorry, and hey presto no more differences between the circumcised and non circumcised children.

Maybe your dc has been discombobulated or was feeling pain or discomfort - could be as simple as he had a pee in his nappy about 10 pm which was unnoticed initially but then woke him up as it stung or something - only needs to happen a very few times to become a habit...

He's 12 weeks old and you're chopping bits off him, he's probably in pain.

@Hercwasonaroll judgy much? Hmm No one here knows why the OP had her baby circumcised; in some cases it's medical need. In any case, agree with PP, have you tried Calpol OP?

Thanks for the insight.
Would he still be in pain 2 to 3 weeks after his circumcision?
@wibdib sorry Im confused to the 10pm comment and his nappy being wet..( sorry being thick here )
@rottiemum88 I have..he had his 12 week vaccinations and therefore bought a slight temp unusually, do been giving calpol.
@Hercwasonaroll Thanks for reading my concern. Like rottiemum88 said somethings are done because of medical reasons. Hope ur baba is well though x
