Is this tooth decay?

Sorry, gross pic. Was talking to DH and he suddenly said to open my mouth and proceeded to tell me my teeth are decaying. I brush and floss twice a day. I just didn't expect it. I'm hoping he's wrong? Can anyone give an informed opinion? If he's right what do I do? Can it be reversed?

I think the black inside the tooth is decay. It needs to be seen to consider what to do with it. If it's badly decayed I would have it out.

Also I think all the little black dots and lines are small cavities.
I'm no dentist so it's just a guess

Hmm that doesn’t look great does it. I assume you’re in no pain? It could be staining, say you drink a lot of red wine then there’s a chance it could be that. Obviously you need to see a dentist and apparently they’re opening soon so perhaps contact your dentist and try and get an appointment booked in ASAP.

Hmm I had one tooth which looks similar but it didn't need filling, they didn't mention anything apart from seeing the hygienist for a good clean.

Is it @mrsmorton who’s the MN dentist?

Dentist here, it’s very difficult to tell from the pics, but the little black lines look like normal staining. The teeth further back possibly have a bit of shadowing that may need an X-ray to confirm. (But impossible to tell from the photo)
When was your last check up/set of xrays? If it was fairly recently and you have good oral hygiene and don’t eat/drink too much sugar, it’s very unlikely that decay would suddenly have got to the point of being deep.
