Mine are on "Goat Simulator" now Confused

Littlebelina · 27/06/2020 09:22

I think it's more the faux innocence/outrage/naivety some schools dementors express if anyone says they are annoyed that pubs etc are opening before schools are back that gets my goat. It's a default "they are completely separate" reply which isn't true and often used to shut posters down.

Nihiloxica · 27/06/2020 09:22

Mum used to have the unnerving ability to carry on a conversation without any input from another party, like something out of a Les Dawson sketch, when I lived with my parents. She could literally follow you from room to room keeping up a constant flow of nowt.

My middle child is like this. I'm trying to teach her about how conversation have more than one participant and listening is even more important than talking.

But there are just so many facts I need to be told...

Teateaandmoretea · 27/06/2020 09:23

The other one is ‘if it isn’t safe for pubs to open then it isn’t safe for children to be at school’ 🙄🤬

Littlebelina · 27/06/2020 09:23

We caved and allowed roblox during lockdown. I think it's all ds and his friends talk about it schools, his teacher must be praying for their bubble to burst Grin

Yes, similar to social distancing has to end everywhere for schools to open. That's not how risk assessment works
Drivingdownthe101 · 27/06/2020 09:25

DD1 (6) is obsessed with minecraft. She’s only allowed to play it one evening a week with DH when the toddler is in bed, otherwise I know it would take over all of her waking thoughts.

BakewellTarts · 27/06/2020 09:29

DD2 is obsessed with Minecraft. We have also caved. She often plays whilst Watsapping with her friends. Its a bit social then!?

NothingIsWrong · 27/06/2020 09:30

If you fancy a good laugh this morning, check out the twitter hashtag #badstockphotosofmyjob

A proper tonic :-)

I can’t work out tbh whether a lot of people are thick or whether they are pretending to be. Or whether it’s a combination of both.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 27/06/2020 09:38

Mine use scratch (programming for kids). Every single game is the same. The character jumps off a tower block into a chainsaw.

The youngest is a narrator - who ends up in my bed far too frequently for my sanity.

Just did a quick trip to the coop. It’s hard not to giggle when people are leaping out of your way.

Nihiloxica · 27/06/2020 09:41

I think the people pretending to be thick actually are thick but think they are clever.

The tweet/post of the form

"I just don't understand how anyone can think . It must be ."

Is a pose that attempts to set the writer up as so innocent of wrongthink that they can't even understand very basic concepts.

It does reveal them as deeply stupid and incurious.

You should ALWAYS understand why people hold positions you don't agree with.

It's the basis of rational civic engagement.

MagdaS · 27/06/2020 09:44

Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite and World of Warcraft are all favourites with my boys. They would be staring at screens all day if they were allowed. At least sometimes I can bribe them to do homework / instrument practice / tidy their room with the threat of screens being removed.

Grin

That sounds cool. Middle child very into Scratch. She wants to be a "coder" when she grows up.

I think about moving her on to Python sometimes, but the Scratch community is so cool and the crazy shit she makes make a her really happy.

Maybe I should set her up on Processing and we could make stupid interactive moving pretty things together.

Orangeblossom78 · 27/06/2020 09:54

There was an article about how it was good for their socialising or something (well better than not having access to these games I will try and find it, might make some of us feel a bit better about it. Mine does scratch as well.

Ha, this made me laugh. <a class="break-all" href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53193615?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus&link_location=live-reporting-story" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-53193615?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus&link_location=live-reporting-story

Me too apparently. I was woken up this morning by Ds giving me an impromptu lesson on plumbing. He'd been watching storybots with dp and apparently that was a good way to wake me up Grin

Cattermole · 27/06/2020 09:56

@Orangeblossom78 well if he says it won't be needed it definitely will, he's been consistently wrong about every other damn thing so far :-D

Drivingdownthe101 · 27/06/2020 09:57

DD1 is an avid reader which is great... she’s 6 and is the much mocked on MN 6 year old who has read all the Harry Potter books for example. But she has to tell me the plot of every single one. In detail. And show me pages she finds interesting. And ask me my opinion on the plot, and the characters. Which is lovely... for 10 mins.

Nihiloxica · 27/06/2020 09:59

Oh yes, I saw Ferguson's latest way of getting himself in the paper. Hmm

HesterShaw1 · 27/06/2020 10:02

I know its the Graun, so they have an agenda. However this this is a sobering article. People were really scared. Mow some people are scared still and lots are angry.

BakewellTarts · 27/06/2020 10:05

Yep lots of potential for significant civil unrest.

Orangeblossom78 · 27/06/2020 10:05

Yes such a difficult balance and situation for the police at present.

Orangeblossom78 · 27/06/2020 10:07

Will it not cause problems if pubs are limited to sitting at tables / bookings etc and taking names, when they open on a Saturday with these mobs of men etc? Seems a daft idea to me. feel sorry for the pub staff who might have to deal with them all

Dowser · 27/06/2020 10:07

Countess
We only saw as you like it and the tempest
As you like it was so brilliantly funny
The whole experience was amazing though.
I can’t believe it’s gone

I darent ask how my actor/ producer friends are doing as I know their hearts will be breaking at the hard work they’ve put into their company
