Dead animal in pool

We have a 15ft above ground pool in our garden (in UK). For various reasons the pool hasn't been used since last year. It can't be seen from the house due to garden layout and for various MH reasons I've not been in the garden until the last week or so.

At some point the cover has come off the pool which is now half full of stagnant water, and a dead animal (we think badger). I called the council but they are unable to remove it, Rentokil only remove animals from inside. The only company I can find want £450, and can't guarantee removal. Which I will have to pay unless I can find an alternative although it is twice what the pool cost!

Do I just need to suck it up?

Finally! Great news that it's gone. Hopefully the next steps to get rid of the pool will be more straightforward. Also hope you do get a gardener and build the confidence to get back out there.

Did you get it drained too OP? I hope things are improving for you. A fog sounds like a great idea, and would be a lovely companion for you. Your neighbours sound horrible. I'd have been tempted to chuck the badger in their garden, or at least to let the stinky water runoff into their land!

....any update? 👀

Sorry I didn't come back about the pool. In the end my brilliant DC managed to get the pump working and empty the pool. Someone local wanted the steel frame as scrap so came and took the whole thing away. So that was that.

I've not managed to make much progress in using or sorting out the garden as I still feel quite anxious being out there due to my neighbours but at least this big thing was done and I know no other animal is going to be harmed.

Great news that you got it sorted. It must be a huge relief for you.

yes, very much so, although I am a little upset and frustrated with myself that I haven't 'recaptured' my garden yet. As well as the fact I put myself through all this when if I had secured the pool better last year it might never have happened. But at least things are better overall than a few months ago.

Well there you go - and in a few months time they will be better than they are now (for all sorts of reasons).

Take it slowly and think how much better you will feel when you get to the point where you have "recaptured" your garden. Flowers
