Following recent incidents like the above the UK Police are considering going on strike for 48 hours, it will be like the Purge, will they bring in the army do you think?

It won’t happen.
100% wont happen so don’t give it another thought

And the mirror isn’t a great point of reference

RedBrownBrick · 25/06/2020 12:07

Erm, where exactly did you get that idea from? Or are you just trying to spread baseless rumours?😂 Are you aware that the police do not have a union and legally cannot strike?

TheVanguardSix · 25/06/2020 12:07

The police are banned from striking, aren't they?

You shouldn’t start threads on such an important issue without having done a modicum a research.

Jenasaurus · 25/06/2020 12:09

I didnt know they were banned from striking, it would make sense though

Top tip - don't believe everything anything you read on Twitter Grin There's not even such a thing as "London police" - it's MPS and City.

Very sad about the officers getting injured though, I agree.

Jenasaurus · 25/06/2020 12:15

Yes, I should know better than to believe social media but after seeing that video I wouldn't blame them, I wouldn't want their job at this current time

* Yes, I should know better than to believe social media but after seeing that video I wouldn't blame them, I wouldn't want their job at this current time*

On what grounds would they strike though in this scenario?

BlueThursday · 25/06/2020 12:43

The police cannot strike. If needed, extra officers could come from other forces to assist

Kokeshi123 · 25/06/2020 15:20

I'm amused at the responses on this thread.

Of course the police cannot officially strike. But police forces can and do resort to unofficial strikes by semi-withdrawing from policing in certain areas. It's not hard to do---phone in sick, work to rule, be obstructive.

No, I wouldn't blame them either after watching that video.

Kokeshi123 · 25/06/2020 15:26

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_strike See the "Dynamics" section. The police have their own "quiet" ways of doing a de-facto strike.

RedBrownBrick · 25/06/2020 15:38

There is nothing under the "Dynamics" section suggesting that British police go on de-facto strikes Hmm

I'm glad you're amused. I'm amused by your link.

Claphands · 25/06/2020 16:44

I doubt it, police cannot strike and any actions or talk of strike is a disciplinary matter, work to rule is an option but in reality virtually impossible.

reinacorriendo · 25/06/2020 17:00

Police have a federation who represents them

Yes bring in army, get Johnson to arrange a friendly game of cricket and a pint until it all blows over

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 25/06/2020 17:03

I wouldn't blame them tbh after what happened.

Wonder if there'll be an outbreak of "blue flu"?

plominoagain · 25/06/2020 17:12

We can’t strike . We can’t even talk about striking , or join a union . It’s illegal .
