DD manky foot.

DD had a blister the other week on the side of her heel. She let it pop, then has obviously picked it.
She showed me it today and it looks like this.
I'm thinking smother in savlon and see how it goes, DH thinks it needs medical attention.
Mumsnet jury thoughts?

Is it hot? Any yellow discharge? If not stop picking at it and it should heal fine

wheresmyhairytoe · 22/06/2020 20:14

Not hot, no discharge.

I've told to stop picking! She's a nightmare for it.

I'm not a savlon fan, no need as there are no signs of infection.
Leave it alone, staple a sock to her foot if necessary!

CoronaIsShit · 22/06/2020 20:19

Wash with cotton wool with a bit of soap on. Dry and cover in Savlon or even better, Sudocrem, tape on a gauze pad so she can’t touch it.

Job done.

Thanks all. DH has form for panicking, I have form for being too relaxed!

What age is she? If that was my heel, I'd stick a hydrocolloid blister plaster on that and leave it until it fell off. They're not recommended for young children if I remember correctly though.

Atalune · 22/06/2020 20:37

Just leave it to dry out now.

Nacreous · 22/06/2020 20:38

I'd definitely tape gauze or something over it so she can't pick at pick.

Must hurt a lot though, poor thing. Unless it goes hot/gets red and swells/goes pus-filled, I'd probably leave it, just keep it clean and put savlon on it.

But I'm not a medic, so can't guarantee.

If you continue to be concerned, lots of GPs round here now have an online form you can fill out where I think you can attach pictures and they reply within a day or two.

Looks painful.

I had similar with a blister on the hard skin of my heel. Very painful. I popped it because it was too Painful to walk on and it got more painful before it got better😫 Left alone, it dried out and healed.

Your dd's doesn't look serious, just keep an eye on it and tell her not to pick!

RedCatBlueCat · 22/06/2020 20:45

Blister plaster was the best when my foot looked like that. Second best was big gauze dressing taped on.

Poppyismyfavourite · 22/06/2020 21:00

ooh ow that looks really sore bless her. It looks ok now but definitely don't let her pick it - if it gets infected that will be awful.

Poppyismyfavourite · 22/06/2020 21:01

tcp ointment is pretty good

Atalune · 22/06/2020 21:20

Put socks on her hands when she goes to bed to prevent scratching/picking!

Laiste · 22/06/2020 21:37

Big gauze with zam-buk on it.

This skin antiseptic is brilliant. Recommended by a paramedic friend. Doesn’t sting and works on so many things!

Viviennemary · 22/06/2020 21:57

Get some blister plasters from the chemist. That will stop her shoe rubbing against it.
