What to put in toddlers cut / sore thumb ?

My 17 month old cut his finger today, I eventually stopped the bleeding but it's very sore and looks red. He screams every time he touches something but screams constantly with a plaster on it 😩
Can I put anything in it while he's asleep to speed up the healing? AmNo best letting air get to it overnight or putting a plaster back on?

Germoline antiseptic cream because has anaesthetic in it. Hold a cut above heart level to stop the bleeding quicker and press a sterile clean cloth on it. And assuming the cut isn't deep I would let the air at it overnight.

It's stopped bleeding but it's like shaved the skin off so really sore. I'll put some germoline on

When my oldest was a toddler he hated plasters and would take them straight off. There was this plaster spray that created a barrier, that we got from the chemist, you could try that.

Thinking about this inevitably coming up again, when he's all healed you could make a game with a teddy and some plasters, and just have fun with it, then progress to putting plasters on you then on him? Kind of take the cycle of it only ever happening when he's hurting away because there is obviously a negative association.

@TimeWastingButFun Yes that's a brill idea, I'll give it a go once he's over this trauma, thank you.

Sent DH our to look for plaster spray
