Gift ideas for teachers?

Starting to think about what small little gift I can get for my little girls teacher in July when she leaves? I don’t want to spend a lot just something small to say thank you.
Didn’t want to go down the chocolates, flowers route. Anyone have any nice ideas?

Thank you

I’m a (secondary), teacher so we don’t usually get many gifts but the best I’ve had are personal cards- I’ve kept all of mine from the last 20 years, a Nice email to the head about me is always fab and good for morale- something really needed at the moment.
If you must buy something- lovely hand cream such as L’occitane, coffee shop vouchers are fab and I personally do like a bottle of wine but many teachers don’t.

Please no plants, or mugs or notebooks or pens. We have hundreds of them .

If I did decide to get a gift voucher for somewhere like amazon or WHSmith, I’d struggle knowing how much to get...Confused

FWIW I’m a teacher and I bloody love presents of any kind Grin But yes, ahem, a heartfelt card is probably best!

Don't worry about it. Honestly, it genuinely is the thought that counts - particularly at the moment when so many people are being vile to teachers.

I'd be weeping with gratitude at a £5 gift token.

A student (16) bought me a completely inappropriate mug last year.

I bloody love it.Grin. And it reminds me of her every time I drink from it.

Ideally not something that says "best teacher on it" as if they have 3 already it's super hard to regift!

I'm a teacher (primary) and what has always meant the most is if a gift is personal to me (e.g. I once got a bracelet in the colours I wear the most often, another time a toy for my new dog), or a card where the child has written an actual meaningful message and the parent has written a note too. I treasure those and re-read them on bad days!

(Excuse the embarrassing misuse of quotation marks...)

It's lovely to receive gifts but what's even nicer is an email to the head to say how happy you are with the work I've done with your child. I've had a few lovely emails and they always bring a smile to my face when I think about them.

@BirdieDance

One of the nicest things you could do would be to send an email to the Headteacher about how well supported you have felt during this time by the class teacher. A bit of positive feedback is worth way more than a mug!

DD made a card and we popped in a Costa gift voucher. (This is our last week of term). Had to post it in as we're not back til August.

It's only a fiver but enough for a coffee and cake. It's my "go to" teacher gift- who doesn't like a cheeky coffee and cake?

pinkcattydude · 22/06/2020 23:42

We sent in a bundle of pump hand creams (Neutrogena) so fine for most skins. With a card thanking the teachers for everything they’ve done to try and get us through this unprecedented time. I think there’s a lot of negativity right now and anything we can do to make it easier for others we should.

Wine without a doubt.

Allmyeye · 23/06/2020 00:38

But only because gin is expensive.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/06/2020 07:24

I hate wine and always give it to my colleague if I get any.

Primary teacher here and I have way too many mugs and hand cream already lol... my hands are still always cracked, I forget to use them 😂
I've received a few e-cards before and they were the best since I could print out the ones I liked if I wanted but wasn't left with stacks of one liners :P
This year (just last week) I received an e-mail "Thankbox" from a group of parents from my class which was a lovely surprise, they collected a kitty of £52 for me with some lovely messages from the children and I could just exchange the £££ for a gift voucher... maybe worth considering something similar, since we can then get ourselves something nice we actually like, hint hint ;) (the website was thankbox.co if anyone is interested)
