Wilko emulsion

Has anyone used Wilko emulsion? ....blimey the originality & whiticism of my post is astonishing. Brace yourselves for an exciting one peeps. I can barely contain myself. However I do want to know if the emulsion they sell in Wilko is any good. Not the grey stuff obviously, we've already decided grey can get to fuck.

YES! Found it perfectly fine. Not an emulsion connoisseur by any means. But it has worked for me - more than once.

Agree with you on grey.

QuestionableMouse · 21/06/2020 16:55

It's fine. I did my bedroom with it about a year ago it it still looks nice.

I did find it needed more coats than the more expensive one though.

QuestionableMouse · 21/06/2020 16:56

Mine was grey 😭😭☹️😂😂😂

TeddyBeans · 21/06/2020 16:56

I've used their Matt paint, my dad helped me paint my living room and he's used to using Dulux but said he preferred the Wilko one, it goes on so thick and smoothly. Gives a lovely finish too

Gingernaut · 21/06/2020 16:58

Yes.

It's weak, watery and gritty.

Not happy with it, nor was I impressed with their quick drying, exterior satin.

Also weak, watery and gritty.

Nackajory · 21/06/2020 17:00

QuestionableMouse was it mouse grey?Grin

Mine was NOT weak watery and gritty. Strewth!
Serious divergence of opinions here OP.
Perhaps time to drill down into the granularity of the data? Grin

Katinski · 21/06/2020 17:01

I've used it. It was fineSmile
Before that I used to use Woolworth's own brand. Now that was the bull's bollocks. I miss Woolies.

Roselilly36 · 21/06/2020 17:03

I miss Woolies too, but for paint Dulux all the way for me.

Raindancer411 · 21/06/2020 17:40

I did and regretted it. Ended up wall order phenomenon and has to buy a lot of £50 sealant and more paint to cover it over and get rid of the smell.

Think it's as they didn't store it correctly. Never again

IAintentDead · 21/06/2020 17:59

I prefer Johnstones but Wilko over Dulux every time. Years ago I swore by Dulux but these days I find it really doesn't cover well at all

DappledThings · 21/06/2020 18:32

Yes, it was fine

frugalkitty · 21/06/2020 18:36

I used it in DDs room last year as it was a particular shade of......... she was after. Her choice! It was fine, although I'd say homebase own or dulux go on better. Needed three coats I seem to remember rather than the two I expected.

isseywith4vampirecats · 21/06/2020 18:45

if you have a B&Q near to you they do a colour match to dulux and F&B colours in Valspar paint not much dearer then wilkos and very good paint we are converts

KingOfDogShite · 21/06/2020 18:50

In the last month I’ve used wilko emulsion, wilko masonry paint and wilko wallpaper and found it almost as good as Johnstone's. The one coat was truly one coat.

People are snobby about wilko but their paint is so much better quality than F&B. Tbh pretty much everything wilko sells is fab.

Nackajory · 21/06/2020 19:56

Thanks everyone

This. I find their silk emulsion really durable and goes on really well. Little Greene is my paint of choice for their beautiful shades but Wilko is just excellent value for money.

Pimmsypimms · 21/06/2020 21:57

I'd definitely go for Johnstones by choice. I have used Wilkos paint in 3 rooms recently though. 1 was bathroom paint, 1 was Matt and one was their durable matt paint, no issues, all fine.

Liland · 21/06/2020 22:25

I've used a lot of wilkos paint! Theres loads of variety in texture and how it goes in between colours, and I found I needed the durable, otherwise it couldn't be wiped clean at all without making water marks (same as the dulux matt in my bedroom). The durable is great though, very thick and lovely colour! I have intense blueberry in my living room and moody blue in the toddler room :)

catfeets · 21/06/2020 22:33

The White satin is really good but their wall colour is awful. Did my landing duck egg and it's patchy, colour didn't look anything like the pot and it was very thin so needed 3 coats to look half decent.

francienolan · 21/06/2020 23:39

Make sure it's available online or that you buy loads more than you need. It doesn't go as far as it says on the tin.
