I have to get some cardiology results from consultant at hospital, i am hoping i can take my dp.
When i had the scan dp was allowed to wait in waiting room whilst scan was done.
Anyone know what procedure is for getting results, i really want him there.

I have explained about my anxiety and needing dp there or at least a telephone appointment. I am just so worried about it being bad news and dealing with it alone, surely if docs know its bad newsthey would let you have someone like partner/friend with you, this is what i am struggling to deal with.
Do you think they would let me have dp on phone when seeing consultant, so i would be in room and dp on phone so at least he will hear same as me.

Unfortunately they’re having to make quite difficult decisions about who comes in. Having him on the phone sounds like a really good idea.

Wishing you the best for your appointment Flowers

OP, I hope your appointment goes ok. I will pray for your health and anxiety levels about the appointment.

I'm in Northern Ireland, have been back and forth to clinics this month for various tests and bloods. Have Consultant appointment on Thursday as I potentially have cancer.

Didn't even occur to me to bring DH as we have young DC and no one to babysit. Plus I knew the hospital is strict right now about visitors who are a nice add-on, but not actually necessary. I will be driving there myself and plan to just sit and cry in carpark if I get bad news.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but perhaps go on your own and you'll be boosted in confidence and that in turn may help your anxiety long-term.

Do you think they would let me have dp on phone when seeing consultant,

There’s no harm in politely asking, but I asked the same thing in a recent hospital appointment and they said no because the potential to get information mixed up was high.

In order to keep patients and staff safe there needs to be a minimum of people in a clinic area
The people there need to have to be there
I.e staff or patients
If you and everyone else insisted on taking someone with them the only way to make the area safe would be to book less patients
So you wanting your DH there might mean someone else is put at risk or can't get an essential appointment slot
Try thinking about it that way
The staff need to be safe too
Or if they get sick no one gets an appointment

The secretary rang to confirm appointment today, when i asked if it could be done over phone they said no, only where medically appropriate will they change to phone or video call. Now what does that mean.
Having explained my anxiety levels he has said he is happy to see me and my dp, just arrive 5 mins before appointment so we aren't together in waiting room. Thats not a problem, i can do that, now i am worrying that there is something wrong.
If they found sonething major, including cancer would they not of had me in before 4 weeks or would they not have let my gp know that something else is wrong and they contact me, or would the cardiologist just tell me if something else is wrong.
Family history of breast cancer, and i already know i am high risk. That is my biggest worry that from the echocardiogram they have found something else.

They won't have found cancer, or anything other than heart related things from an echo. They're only scanning your heart muscle, nothing else. I say this in the kindest way possible, please get some help with your health anxiety. If you're on here in the middle of the night worrying about this, you really need to see someone about it. I have heart issues, but I lead a full and completely normal life, and am not at risk of an early demise due to having an ICD fitted, so even if they have found something it will probably be easy to sort and mean meds or a wee procedure. Heart issues are not the death sentence they once were.
