Looking for recommendations please for best place to live in Portugal for family, near to / not too far from the coast, plenty to do, good transport links, schools, access to the usual necessities. Not looking for a very busy tourist area, something in between. Thanks

are you looking for an international school? If so, Alges would be worth a look. It's close to lisbon (20 min drive/30 min bus ride), and a 5 minute drive/20 min walk from Park International school

There is a small beach, which doesn't get as busy as the ones close by. Depending on the age of your dc, there are local scout groups (ges 10.5-14) grup07.wixsite.com/newsite16-uk , this one is 20 mins away, and I am sure there are beavers/cubs groups too if your dc are younger

This is really interesting to me too! I'd never heard of park international... have you had experience of it? I was interested in st Julians if you know that school although housing in the immediate area looks quite dear and I expect it gets very busy in summer....

I can't say I do @falcon5 , however I have just read the reviews on the facebook page of the school

and apparently it didn't deal greatly with a bullying case.
St Julians is a 20 min bus ride/20 min car ride from Alges, so still a doable journey. It has much better reviews on facebook, although I don't have personal experience of it either x

Algarve International School

www.algarveinternationalschool.com

They are the 'new boy' on the block. Selling points: small classes and all staff with teacher qualifications.

Thanks! Does anyone else have anything to add?

Hi - what did you decide in the end? I’m looking for options for September for a place to live and an international school for my daughter who will be 3. Thank you!
