Having measles and mumps vaccination as an adult

Recently found out I wasn't vaccinated for Measles, Mumps as a child (had rubella vaccine) due to a family member (great aunt!) having a bad reaction to a vaccine as a child.

Wondering if I should have them as an adult, and if anyone has any experience of being vaccinated as an adult e.g. bad reaction or anything.

I'm guessing it would be sensible to have them but the nurse at the GP said it wasn't essential in this country as fairly low risk. But with all the stories of mumps outbreaks I'm thinking it might be sensible!?

Thanks

In my last pregnancy it turned out I was not immune to rubella (they don’t test for that anymore).

So after my baby was born I was jabbed against my consent with the MMR (they just came at me in hospital two day after my section, I was getting injections for pain and blood thinners so didn’t notice until I saw it on my discharge notes).

I discovered about ten years ago that for some reason I’d never had the MMR (possibly because we moved a lot, including abroad, when I was a baby), so I had it done. No problems whatsoever.

I was given the MMR in my early 20s, but had already been vaccinated again measles and rubella at secondary school age and had had mumps and at least 1 of other illnesses as a young child. My GP surgery was very close to a university and at the time there was an outbreak of 1 of them among uni students so they offered it to everyone (I think I went for a contraceptive review and came out having had the MMR, though I did consent without thinking about the fact that I was highly likely to be already immune). I did feel slightly unwell, like a bit of a flu-like illness, the next day, but that could have been because I had an extra dose. There are regular outbreaks of measles and mumps in this country due to low uptake of MMR over the past few years, so it is probably advisable despite what you were told.
