DH sleep paralysis, Spooky

DH works for a well known hotel chain, they’re currently closed to the public. However for security reasons there must always be 2 people on site. DH and his colleague do Friday to Monday, DH takes the 7am-7pm shift and sleeps in one of the rooms at night whilst the other guy takes the night shift.

Anyway, we’ve just spoken on the phone and he told me he’s been experiencing sleep paralysis. He says around 1am, he “wakes up” because he can hear footsteps coming from the door and around the bed, behind him. He said then he feels pressure on the bed, and someone get in behind him. He cannot move the whole time apparently and then suddenly he can, he turns around to find no one there.

I suggested he change rooms tonight (he always stays in the same one) and see if it happens again tonight.

It’s really freaked me out and I’m keeping my tv on tonight whilst I sleep so it’s not so quiet and spooky.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this or knows someone who has? It’s scary but intrigued, I want to hear your stories

I've had this for a few years but ever since my first born arrived this year, the dreams/hallucinations are always of somebody in our room taking her out of her crib. I can't see them as my eyes are closed but I feel them there. It's so real in the moment.

I get these . The trying to move to wake up can be horrible .
This picture is the famous painting of sleep paralysis.

I used to get it a lot.Havent had it in about a year.

Last time,I fell asleep during the day Woke up to the "sound" of my kids and DP downstairs.
Wasn't them as dp was in work and the kids in school.
It realised I heard and was walking up the stairs.

I realised what was happening,so wiggled my toe.Brought me out,but I was really weireded out.Took me ages to get rid of the feeling.

I'm a widow, so no longer have dh there to wake me up when this happens. Mine are usually always that a man or men are coming upstairs into the room and I'm terrified. My teenage dds wake me up if they hear me screaming, which is kind. I once read that it happens when one side of the brain has woken but the other is still asleep, so you are dreaming but think you are awake.

My dp used to get it it almost every night before he moved in here. He said it was Freddy Krueger in his though. He couldn't move and felt like someone was sitting on his chest so he couldn't make a noise.

The thing I find most fascinating about sleep paralysis is that so many people report seeing and feeling the same things.

Yet we don't all dream the same dreams (although some themes - teeth falling out, trying to run and being unable to, being chased - are similar).

Yes I think so too.
