Maths or English GCSE as an adult?

At the ripe old age of 32 I’ve decided to redo my GCSE. I don’t know what I want to do with it (am currently a nanny) but this is somthing I want to accomplish.

I have looked at CloudLearn and I like the flexibility of when you can take the exam.

I can’t currently afford (financially or time wise) to do maths and English so which one is better to do first and possibly at all depending on what my next step is

Here is the info about their courses

English

Maths

I’d really appreciate any advice on the courses, which one to do and if this company is good to go with

TIA

You can just book the exams at a local exam centre and learn the content yourself from gcse books and the Internet. Depends how much of an independent learner you are, I appreciate some people need structured learning directed by someone else.

I needed another gcse a few years ago (only had 4, needed 5 to get onto the nursing degree) and I did a chemistry iGCSE. It was all exam assessment, I sat two exams at a local 6th form (one with a hall full of teenagers, one on my own in a room with an exam invigilator) after learning it from a book and YouTube and doing a few mock exams.

That doesn't help with your question though, I'd go maths over English unless what you want to do is very language based.

Thank you!

I’m an atrociously bad independent learner and definitely need some structure (unfortunately, would much prefer a cheaper option Grin)

I honestly don’t know where I want to go next. I’ve been doing virtual PA work and love it but work is quite slim pickings right now so I’m not sure what else to do

If you don't have your maths and English, you can do them for free. Is there an adult education centre near you? I did mine ten years ago at age 40. I did much better than I did at school.

The k you, unfortunately the adult education centre near me only does them via evening classes you trend and my worming hours don't allow for it

maths as a priority.

I think it depends on which one is worse, so if you have a d in maths but an F in English I would do my English. I retook both mine, managed a B in English second time. Maths I am not so good at and did it in my final degree year which wan,t the best. (I improved by a grade but didn,t get a c. ) I think it depends on what you need it for. If your better at English do that one if your better at maths do that one.
