I cant stop eating. It gives me so much enjoyment and comfort and even when I'm not enjoying it I still shovel it in. How do I stop? I've tried so many times to quit sugar and carbs to help with the cravings. I really dont know what to do. I've gained about 11lb during lockdown. Dont have the confidence or motivation to exercise either.

Try dates instead of sweet snacks (the fresher the better)you can buy some on eBay straight from Saudi try fruit tea or dark chocolate or ice lollies they have helped me cut out a lot of sugar
Failing that give yourself an extreme budget to live on this mum has managed to cut her weekly shopping to just £50

Thank you. Those are all really helpful tips. I think you are right about a higher power. It's a shame that that is the only option for AA and OA.

Exercise helps.

You don’t have to be a God botherer to do a 12 step programme, honestly. All the talk about ‘handing it over to a higher power’ can basically be boiled down to accepting you’re not going to solve any addiction through willpower and you need help.

I’m not a spokesperson for the 12 Steps, promise! Just saying that if it’s the God stuff is that bothers you, don’t let it put you off. I’m in AA and there are plenty of atheists, agnostics and freethinkers about 😊

I'm another one who would thoroughly recommend 16:8. I've been doing it for five weeks along with 1200 calories a day and have lost a stone so far.

I set a window I can eat in, and stick to it. You can eat whatever you want - the calorie counting I do isn't part of the diet, but only in your eight hour window. The rest of the time you can only have liquids - water, green tea, black tea or coffee. I don't feel hungry during my fasting period and often end up doing 17:7 or 18:6 by accident.

Download an app called Fastic (free) and have a look on there. There's loads of hints and tips and they even have a WhatsApp support group if you want. They also have different levels of difficulty right the way from 12:12 to 23:1.

Good luck!

Depending on what your work is, 16:8 might not be for you. I work shifts from 3-10pm and can't eat on shift. So my evening meal is at around 10.45 meaning that my 'eating window' is 2.45 (which is after I've left for work) and closes just as I get home from work again.

So I would recommend 16:8 (I use it when I'm not working), but bear in mind that anyone with non-conventional work patterns may not be able to use it
