Oh my, that was sooo satisfying

I've sorted all the Lego. I've been itching to do it for years, but the dc were too young and I didn't think it would be fair on them.

It's taken me several days. First attempt was all sorted in neat little stacking boxes, but they were too small, you couldn't rummage easily. Now there are fewer classifications, but it's all in wide drawers so you can rummage easily.

And there's somewhere to put works-in-progress, too.

So satisfying!

I am not a tidy person (understatement of the year!) but I do love to sort things and organise them Grin

I wonder how long it will last, before I have to sort it all again Grin

Well done, I love the satisfaction of having something well organised, even though I'm generally not a tidy person!

I’ve always wanted to do this. We have 4 or 5 Kallax boxes full of Lego. My ocd says to organise it by colour but practically size would be more efficient. I have a large set of rainbow drawers that I could use but I know that I will spend days sorting it for it to be trashed within minutes.
A few years ago I sorted the Hamma beads by colour. They are hidden in the top shelf where they can’t be mixed up!

That's brilliant, sooo satisfying! For 35 years I've wanted to sort my herbs and spices and have finally done it. I get a frisson each time I open my cupboard now Grin

I am itching to do this for DS's legos and reassemble all the star wars models. But he won't let me. As he's 17 and taller then me, I do not stand a chance.

Oo I get a geeky little quiver at the picture of all the jars Grin

Half the joy of sorting things is the process of deciding how to categorise them. (But Lego has to be by size and function, though within that... if I had enough drawers and dividers for the drawers, definitely by colour.)

Dh also likes alphabetising things. I sort the spices by herby flavours, warm/spicy flavours, blends (eg garam masala) and whole spices. Then, within that, they are organised according to how I use them, so ginger is next to cinnamon, and dill is next to tarragon. Drives dh potty, but the dc have never known any different and just accept it.

Ooh, that's lovely.

DD(6) and I sorted all of her Lego into sizes, once. We've only got 1 Kallax box full of "normal" bricks at the moment, but it took us a good few hours. Every size went into a different IKEA food bag, then we had one for wheels and one for miscellaneous pieces. It was extremely satisfying!

Now we just have to figure out what to do with all of her models... She's very into the Lego Movie and we've got nearly every set from both films (not the mega expensive ones) but nowhere to keep them when they're done! (Have to be up high to keep them away from DS(2).)

I bought some of those craft boxes for dd's hama beads (the kind divided into little compartments). Each box has a couple of similar colours (eg pink and purple). Then in each box, the colours are subdivided into different shades. I loved that job.

Even better, dd has outgrown them so they'll never get messed up.
