Theme parks - is it a good time to go?

Just thinking that if they’re only allowed to admit enough to allow for social distancing, surely there’ll be much less people in there and therefore a better than normal chance of getting on everything quicker?

Ticket prices seem to have gone down.

Will be taking plenty of hand sanitizer, wipes and a picnic!

Which ones are open?

TeenPlusTwenties · 19/06/2020 12:22

My guess is that
Some rides won't be open.
Some will be open but with social distancing so not all seats available.
Cleaning between rides so slower moving queues.
Soft play areas closed.

Can't think of anything worse than spending the day nagging my dc to keep 2 m apart from people....

Just booked Thorpe Park for mid July for DS’s birthday as he won’t be having a party obviously. He can’t wait.

Didn’t think about them cleaning rides between each user Hmm. Was thinking to take our own wipes to wipe the restraints down! My idea of getting on rides quicker was rubbish thenGrin.

I’m planning on going to Chessington in July, as it’s opening from July 4th (along with the other merlin theme parks).

Capacity is being reduced and you have to book your tickets in advance online. I’m not sure if queues will be any shorter as they’re seating people in every other row etc, so less people will get on per ride. But having been stuck inside for months I am more than happy to wait in a queue Grin

We're wondering about this

Bizarrely my worry is busy toilets!

We were.wondering about wandering around legoland as less screamy shouty rides.

BlusteryLake · 04/07/2020 18:35

I have booked three different ones in July! I think queues will probably be around the same as presumably they have reduced numbers in accordance with the restrictions on ride operation.

I saw Thorpe park I think on the news yesterday and they were saying they are opening to 40% capacity, but that reflects the reduced ride capacity due to distancing. So in theory if they sell out, you'll have to wait the same times as on a normal 'sell out' day, but there will just be fewer people than normal.

Following with interest and keen to hear people's experiences. DS is desperate to go to Alton Towers.
