Just had my house painted and I hate it

I'm a complete novice at all stuff diy and painting as I've always rented before now. I bought my house about a month ago. Had someone in last week to paint and wallpaper my hallway. I chose a Johnstone's match of farrow and ball and what a nightmare that has been. The paint is absolutely shit. You can't touch up, you can't clean it. There's marks on the wall not sure if it was from me or the decorater but I've tried gently wiping them off there's now water marks on the wall. You can't touch up as it doesn't blend in.

I wish I had of known this before. I've touched up dulux paints absolutely no problem so stupidly assumed this would be the case with all paint. I've had the wallpaper done up my stairs which I like although I can see a gap quite obvious where it hadn't been matched properly. If anyone has any advice on fixing that please let me know.

So I've just wasted £300 on the hallway and the colour doesn't go and I don't like it and there's marks already. DP hasn't even seen it as he's been working away all week but has said he doesn't mind doing it himself with a mate possibly helping (I'm useless and it's really high) but 1. He hasn't stopped since moved in and he must be absolutely sick of me and 2. The most important thing, how do you paint the joining walls to the wallpaper without getting any paint on it, I'm scared! I've told him I'll pay myself to get someone in to do it again but he seems to think it'll be fine, although he doesn't have much experience painting either. Help! I know it seems so minor right now but it's got me really stressed out.

Ammonite isn't in the grey palette, it's beige if anything .

I feel your pain re. Ammonite, OP. I painted over it in my house because it looked beige yet another expensive paint mistake. However, I used the same paint (same tin, so no possibility of there being any difference at all) in another house, where it is a beautiful shade of silvery grey.

That's F&B for you.

I did all the right things, too - painted it on to big pieces of card so I could stick them up in different parts of the room beforehand etc. It looked grey. It still looked a very dreary beige when it was actually on the walls.

OP, very poor wallpaper job.

The paint must be watered down.

There is no way it should be showing up a watermark.

I hope you are going back to where you bought it and complain with photos.

Painting is a pain in the arse, I remember doing it when I bought my first home...nightmare....taking down old wallpaper too, absolute nightmare.

I've took all your advice and have asked him to come back and sort the wallpaper out. I'll make sure I'm out so DP can deal with it as I find these things a bit uncomfortable, I need to get a grip I know. Hopefully he's coming today.

Regarding the paint I have emailed where I bought it and I'm waiting to see what they say

Johnstones paint is terrible in my experience. Looks nothing like it should and needs about a million coats.
