Holiday cottage in England (opinions, especially owners)

I know there are about a million threads about this at the moment.... but I feel so sad. We've cancelled our week in Wales due to the fact that they are so far behind us, our week at the end of July seems a non starter but what are the chances for an English one?

I saw in the news this morning that Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden is warning they may postpone opening up the tourism industry (hotels, B&Bs, guest houses, self catering etc).

I’ve got something booked 4th July in England and the owner said they’re hoping to open for then.

heartsonacake · 18/06/2020 09:22

Yeah, 4th July was the provisional date they were hoping for, but it’s been announced by the Culture Secretary this could be too early and therefore it could get pushed back.

We booked the same cottage we went to last year, in August (we booked in Sept last year!) and as far as we know we are going.
Only thing I'm not sure about is the travel across country, will they be lifting that restriction when they allow holidays?
We will go to the beach/go for walks/self cater (we would be doing that anyway because we have fairly small DCs).

Ive got a lodge booked with hoeseasons on the 6th. No facilities just a lodge and was hoping to just relax after working flat out since lock down.
I do realise it might not happen

We’ve got a booking for 4th July and have everything crossed... we’re isolated and very rural and with supermarket deliveries/bringing everything with you, and just walking in the lovely countryside it’s completely possible to holiday without coming closer than shouting distance of another human.

We’re only taking one party for the yurts so that two families don’t have to share toilet and shower.

We’ve bought a fogging machine to nuke cottage and yurts.

I’m really hoping for 4th July. It doesn’t make sense to me that pubs and restaurants can open and strangers can share a space but one family can’t holiday together.

IAmcuriousyellow You can do that, yeah, but it can’t be trusted that the majority of the British public will and I think that’s what they’re worried about.

What Oliver Dowdon has said is as follows:

'We have set out a road map,’ he said. ‘The next stage is July 4. I very much hope that we’ll be able to stick to that roadmap and we will see tourism return to the UK... but we can only do so when it’s safe.'

Which is basically still aiming for the 4th, but not definite.

We're booked in for the tenth self-catering, isolated....i'm cautiously hopeful, but won't start getting too excited until its confirmed.

Everyone of the same opinion then - hopeful but no answer as yet. Fingers crossed for everyone!
