Books for an almost 7 yr old boy

Any suggestions? He’s not a bad reader of simple books and we have loads of those but not sure about chapter books either to read alone or with us. He does tend to get a little fearful over things so something quite gentle and maybe funny. TIA

13-storey treehouse series.

My just turned 7 year old ds is really loving the Tom Gates series at the moment.

Definitely 13 Storey Treehouse series. My DS (6) is a reluctant but good reader and he's read the whole series in the past few weeks.

He's now trying a couple of Wigglesbottom Primary, and I think he's ready for some of the smaller Roald Dahl books. Again, I'd recommend buying the full Roald Dahl book set if you don't have it.

The Bolds
Tom Gates
Stick Dog

Thank you for all the suggestions. I have to say I haven’t heard of any of these and now realise I need to move myself and DS along from the Julia Donaldson, Dinosaur That Pooed.. type of picture books Blush

DS got into chapter books through Dirty Birtie & Horrid Henry when he was 6. He is now 7, and reading David Walliams, Roald Dahl and the Magic Faraway Tree sets.

Flying Fergus
Frankie's Magic Football
Spy Dog
RSPCA story books - The Abandoned Kitten etc.

Lovereading4kids recommends new books by age group as they come out. They often have a couple of chapters to read straight away too so you can gauge whether your child is likely to be into it. I’ve come across so many brilliant books through that website which I’ve gone on to read with my class. DS (6) has liked Toto the Ninja Cat, The Boy Who Made the World Disappear and The Boy Who Grew Dragons recently. I read them to him though. He’s a way off being able to read books like that for himself just yet.

13 storey treehouse series are good. Also have a look at Mr Penguin (adventurer and penguin). There's 3 of them. We've got the boy who grew dragons series too but they're put away for birthday.

Website sounds great I’ll check that out. Was thinking we’d start reading together then he can take over little bits of it. Mr Penguin could be a good one as he loves penguins anyway.
