Please throw all your cleaning tips my way

Our house is going on the market next week and I want to do a deep clean before they take the photos.

Since MN has been a treasure trove of useful tips in other areas of my life I thought I'd cast the net out and see if anyone has any recommendations on lazy sod methods, unusual tips or even decent cleaning products. Exciting I know Grin

In return here's a couple I know of. Denture tablets in water for net curtains, laundry detergent with water in a spray bottle for fake febreze and a copper coin on limescale build up on taps.

Clean anything glass or gloss with warm diluted washing up liquid Microfiber cloth, dry with Microfiber cloth no smears 😉

Also if you have skirting boards or spare time give them a white wash or touch up, sparkly skirting boards and door frames make rooms look bigger and nicer don't ask why 🤣

Aside from the cleaning, do a massive declutter of any random tat laying about if needed. Countertops, shelves, etc. All that stuff looks awful in photos.

Work your way clockwise around the room cleaning from top to bottom including the walls, then clear and clean the floor. This is the way I was taught as a cleaner years ago, and I still use it now.

Crumpled up newspaper to clean windows. No streaks after

I find that I have to wash the walls a lot because of kids mucky hand prints etc, makes a Massive difference although they could do with painting more often too. I use diluted washing up liquid and a sponge and work downwards. Skirting boards as well get missed a lot.

Using some baby oil to shine up any stainless steel, it gives it an actual shine. Vikal limescale remover anywhere you have lime scale.

One thing a lot of people miss is cupboard doors and the front of appliances.

Box up as many nick nacks as you can. Clutter does not photograph well, even if it's really pretty Clutter!

Spray furniture polish on the radiator and turn them on. Makes the place smell clean.

Lock any children in the shed. Makes it easier to keep the place tidy. (THIS IS A JOKE)

Here's mine - don't wash the net curtains, just ditch them. Did this when I sold my mum's house and it looked so much brighter and nicer.

Again on smells...make sure your hoover is clean inside. Dirty Hoover's can make rooms stink.
