How did you get more energy?

I will start by saying my baby is 11 months so I can’t remember the last time I had a full nights sleep. I can’t do anything about the sleep at the moment but I’ve never been a high energy person. What can I change? I need to lose weight and up exercise but it’s difficult to find the time.

Was that what worked for you? Or advice for me. Unfortunately due to allergies the baby is bf and DH doesn’t have the boobs to do anything overnight.

I’m not sure there is much you can do. Eating well, getting fresh air and exercise may help but I think you start just getting used to permanently being tired.
I haven’t slept properly since before I had kids.

I dont have a baby but in general, no alcohol, eat clean as in no processed snacks and loads of water. Exercise wise, I still like Davina's 7 minute fit' when I'm tired or lacking in energy. Its just 7 minutes for 1 routine and done daily adds up. So the no time reason doesn't apply.

Its easy to slip into a snacky habit when you're tired and have a little one. But salt and sugary foods zap us a bit.

You need to sleep when the baby sleeps and drink more water as it’s vital when you breastfeed. Just those two things alone gave me lots of energy. Also, working around the allergies, try and get the baby on 3 meals a day so you go down to 3-4 feeds a day - you can add higher calorie foods if you’re worried about calories. Things like oils / nut or seed butters / avocado all help.

Thanks @gamerchick I will look into those 7 minute workouts.

@GrumpHoomain I have a 4 year old so unfortunately I can’t sleep during the day but I could grab some earlier nights. I think I definitely need to drink more.

Fab start there. Go get a big drink of water. Just be aware though when you up your water intake it'll seem like you're constantly peeing, but your body does adapt to it so don't let it put you off.

Sometimes when I'm low on energy I do some stretchy yoga on YouTube. Doesn't have to be v long and you don't need tons of energy to start. Once you get the body moving and warmed up, you will likely find it gives you some energy to do a quick fitness session. Again, this doesn't have to be long, 15 minutes is fine to begin with, YouTube has loads (massive YouTube fan Smile ).

If you try and do this a few times a week, you will find your energy naturally increases and by having more energy, you will find you have the drive to do more fitness, the other plus is stretching feels really good, especially on a tired body.

Not doing any exercise is really draining and just makes you feel more lethargic.
