What are your kids doing for fathers day?

What do you mean? As in are they making something for their dad? Buying him something?
Mine are 6 and 4 and apparently are making him a card at school. I’ve bought some t-shirts that they’ll give him (too young themselves to go to the shops and get him anything).

Bought a Dadventures book (outdoorsy ideas to do with the dc), a small Cadbury Dad hamper. gonna take them to Sainsbury's to see if there's anything they want to get for him, was his birthday recently so he had a load of gifts then. I imagine it'll just be cards really. They spend sundays with their dad so going to send them with a breakfast or lunch for them to make for him I think

We have booked a floating BBQ in Canary Wharf, they just opened again last week. I am so excited, I'm desperate to just do something, anything!

Well the teen will be in bed and the baby will be non the wiser what day it is.

DP is not a make a big fuss kind of person so it will be another day for us.

Stompythedinosaur · 17/06/2020 11:14

Dp will get a lie in and we'll make a roast dinner. The dc have picked some extensions for the gravitrax, and I imagine he'll spend the afternoon playing with those with the dc.

sanityisamyth · 17/06/2020 11:18

DS wrote a card for ExH which he gave him last weekend when he saw him. DS isn't fussed about his father so hasn't made him a present. I'll suggest that he calls him on Sunday though

NotEnoughTime · 17/06/2020 11:46

edwinbear - we went in a floating jacuzzi with Skuna last year and had a great time. Maybe we'll try the bbq boat next. Hope you have fun :)

FrugiFan · 17/06/2020 12:03

My 3 year old decided her dad wanted a bouncy ball so that's what shes getting for him Grin and she will also make him a card. Chocolates "from" the baby.

LittleOgres · 17/06/2020 12:06

I've ordered him a pair of Mahabis. He has had a hard time lately.
The teens are getting him some wine and his favourite cheese.

Spied · 17/06/2020 12:07

I've made up a gift bag with his fav chocolates and beer so DC will present him with that on the morning along with the card I bought.
Not much fuss goes in to father's/mother's day in our house really.

iwilltaketwoplease · 17/06/2020 12:10

Funky pigeon card and a personal office door sign for his office at home.

LuvMyBoyz · 17/06/2020 12:12

Moonpig photo card of photos DS took of him and DH. DH ordered some stuff he wanted from Amazon and it’s wrapped up for him to open on Sunday. DS is buying extra chocolate.

SueEllenMishke · 17/06/2020 12:12

I've bought a bookmark made from one of DSs drawings of them both and i've ordered Sunday dinner from DHs favourite restaurant - i'll also buy a nice wine for us to have with it. We usually go out for a meal with my dad, the ILs and some friends but that can't happens obviously so we'll have socially distanced drinks with friends instead.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 17/06/2020 12:16

Thanks everyone. Some nice ideas, is anyone doing home made cards instead of buying them?

OP posts:
Drivingdownthe101 · 17/06/2020 12:17

I haven’t bought a card since the DC were old enough to make one... homemade surely far nicer!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 17/06/2020 12:20

DS has done a homemade card with a menu inside for a surprise father's day meal. DS is going to be the waiter (wish us luck...)

reinacorriendo · 17/06/2020 12:21

We will go on a bike ride, meet his oldest son for socially distanced picnic, have bought him few bits from kids, ordered some personalised cards

Stompythedinosaur · 17/06/2020 12:26

Yes, always do homemade cards.

Dd2 will draw a koala. She always draws a koala. One day she will be too big to draw a koala on every card for every occasion and I am sure we will miss it.

ExpletiveDelighted · 17/06/2020 12:26

Cards, mine are teenagers and haven't done homemade for years. They are in charge, I will be at work.

Tropical2 · 17/06/2020 13:16

DP will get a present and a card from the DC when he gets up (purchased by me as they are both under 5). That's it as that's all I get on Mother's Day - I don't get any special treatment so neither does he!

DD has told me she's planning on sticking to her usual routine of pooping and screeching, so I'm buying him a record and making a card with my fave ever photo of the two of them.

It's his first ever one and he knocked it out of the park for me on Mother's Day, so I'm going big. We've agreed that next year we'll be more lowkey.

Vishess · 17/06/2020 13:28

I'm a father, just looking to spend some quality time myself. Play with him and some of his toys to see if I can pass on some wisdom with some educational toys. If the weather is good, chances are I'll be in the backgarden doing some much needed building work and have the LO run around with some of his toys. He usually ends up imitating me so I will likely carry his toolbox with me. I'm also have a side hustle, so he'll likely help me make some videos of him playing with some of his toys! Busy Father's day weekend...

Greenbutterlfy566 · 17/06/2020 14:46
