Nursery accident forms

Hi all, I suffer with anxiety and currently feel a bit overwhelmed about the following- my 2 year old (plus three months), fell over in our garden last Monday. She fell off a low step and grazed her face on a garden planter which was next to it. very small graze.about 1cm across treated with sudocream and vaseline. Informed nursery the following day at drop off and filled a form.

Today I picked her from nursery and she tripped on the pavement, face first. She cried but was fine however the grit has caused some grazing redness on her face near eyes and hairline, again all treated at home. Tomorrow when she goes in I will have to fill another form.

I am worried that they will think I am a bad parent as its happened twice in just over a week And report me to social services or something. However I'm also aware that my anxiety makes me imagine all sorts of far fetched things and that it's not very likely. DH thinks I am being dramatic as kids have bumps and knocks during play. What do you think will happen?

I mean this kindly but you're being dramatic. She's 2. They fall a lot. Their centre of balance is thrown off by the rate they grow- it's completely normal!

Hi, omg35, that's a good point about their balance. Also she was over excited and trying to run, which clearly didn't end well. Thank you for replying to me.

In the kindest way, you’re worrying over nothing. My youngest is 4 and we fill in about equal amounts of forms in the morning for his various bumps and bruises as we do at pick up for the bumps he’s acquired over the day at nursery!Grin

They’re dealing with toddlers all day and will be used to the normal bumps said toddlers get, when it’s on their face I always feel worse because it’s soo bloody visible!

I really wouldn't worry my 3 almost 4 year old falls over nearly everyday has gotten to the point I have plasters on me at all times. She has been seen by the hospital and they say its normal for them to fall just frustrating for them falling alot. But I use to no want her to wear dresses or shorts because she had bruises all over her leg and I would think people would think bad of me but now don't worry..

It's common to be more "clumsy" after a growth spurt as it takes the brain a little while to adjust to the new measurements.

Nursery staff will be familiar with nirnal bumps and bruises and more suspect ones. Plenty of times my DCs had random ones that we didn't know the cause of... then again I often get bruises where I wonder how I never noticed earning it.

Hi, Idontlookoldenough,
That makes me feel a bit better about it all. I need to give myself a good shake. Thank you so much for taking time to answer.

I'm a nursery nurse and we certainly wouldn't think of contacting social services! Please stop worrying. X
