People who have mental resilience and resolve

I've always quit when things get tough. If I think I won't complete something I won't even start it.

Excersise is a big one. As soon as it gets hard I give up. I don't have this rush to finish or the drive to prove I can.

Does anyone have any tips on finding that mental drive to succeed rather than quit when things get tough?
Has anyone managed to turn things around and find they no longer give up?

For exercise, find something you really enjoy and then it will never seem like a chore.

You need to try and understand why you quit, and then you can work out what steps you can try to prevent that happening.

It's important that you understand that if you quit, you have 0% of being successful at what you were trying to achieve. Where if you keep trying, even if you only have a 1% chance of success, it's still a chance so better than quitting.

Remember thaty saying "winners never quit and quitters never win"?

I need a reason. It's not enough to think 'I need to loose 3 stone'. I need something like a specific occasion, like a wedding or a trip abroad with a definite date. I can focus on that goal. Then I imagine being on the beach or in a special dress and looking good (or feeling like a frump) and that keeps me motivated. Problem can be after that particular occasion I loose the willpower and the pounds start piling back on!

Sorry no advice but I’m the same OP.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll only be what you always are....or something along those lines.

Find something random that really surprises you by how much you like it!
I'm similar.. I;m in a low paid undervalued job despite a good degree because I am am scared to take on challenges. So work life.. nope.
But I wanted to get fit.. hate running, hate womens fitness classes... so at 45 I started a taekwondo class...oldest there... 4 years later passed my black belt! It was different and I was rewarded for working hard by gradually passing the grades.

Once a black belt I left 6 months later.. I'd achieved what I wanted!

Looked for a new challenge... can't read music.. so took up the guitar to learn. Discovered the beautiful sound of real classical guitar... 2 years later I practise every day..it frustrates me, delights me when it all comes together. You just need to find that THING that makes you want to keep trying!
