Teeth whitening for sensitive teeth that works

My teeth are becoming more yellow as time goes on, which I know is probably a combination of poor
dental hygiene when I was younger and too much tea/diet coke/red wine in more recent years.

I don't want super hollywood-style bright white teeth, but would like them to be a shade or 2 lighter and just look a bit brighter. However they are really sensitive. I've tried the Crest white strips before and my mouth is just agony for the next 12 hours.

I've also spoke to my (NHS) dentist who was evasive and suggested I speak to the hygienest, who said to try a particular (and expensive) mouth wash which didn't do anything.

So does anyone have any decent solutions to brightening teeth that actually work (and won't be excruciating for sensitive teeth)?

I was told to use sensitive toothpaste in the mould overnight if my teeth were to become sensitive.

Have you tried pola night? I have had this previously on the advice of a dentist but I must admit I chickened out as I have very sensitive teeth!

you can't buy anything legally over the counter in the UK that works. That's because whitening stuffs up teeth unless very carefully done by a professional.

your dentist probably didn't want to take the risk. You can import American stuff (it is legal to ship it here) with their lower safety standards.

I had dental erosion, and as a result very sensitive teeth. The last few weeks the dentist has replaced the lost enamel with some sort of composite material. You can choose the colour. It works and I no longer have sensitive teeth. Time-consuming though.

Have you tried brushing with bicarbonate? (The one in cooking isle, not the cleaning stuff)

Philips Zoom.
Done by a dentist and then maintained at home. My DD had it done last year before she went to uni. She’s always had rather yellow teeth and I promised we would look into it when she was older. Miraculous! Her teeth just look really natural now and she just does a treatment every few months. Cost a few hundred pound for the initial consultation and treatment. Google it and you get a list of local dentists that offer it.
