Hello,
Nervous first time post! I’ll try and keep it short.
For around 4-6 months I was having horrific periods, very heavy bleeding and lasting for 2-3 weeks (light bleeding) saw GP was told to come off pill, had an ultrasound and internal scan and was told there was a very small fibroid in my cervix.
After stopping pill periods have calmed down I’m on for 4-5 days with two days of heavy/normal bleeding.
About 2 weeks ago I felt like what I thought was a prolapse so booked to see the GP. She had a look and said there were no lumps, no prolapse but that I have “yellowy lines/marks on my vagina” she said she’d never seen anything like it, so straight away that made me panic, she said she’d speak to her colleague and if they couldn’t help she’d refer me. I got a txt today to say I’ve been referred and am obviously freaking out, I constantly worry about cancer and am now worried the fibroid is something more sinister and I’ve been miss diagnosed!
I’ve also googled which I know is stupid but saw something called lichen sclerosis which sounds a bit like what the doctor described, but I’ve had no other symptoms, of anything really!
Anyone had a similar experience?

Lichen sclerosis is patches of white skin on your vulva that itch. I have it. It doesn't look like yellowy white lines, I don't think, and it isn't a death sentence - it is one of these things that comes and goes, it's not catching, you just have to watch out for it and apply whatever steroid cream you are prescribed when it flares up. I was petrified when I found out that I had it but it really isn't a big deal day to day.

I would try not to worry until you have seen the gynaecologist, honestly - I am not a doctor but it is quite a specialist area of medicine and it's quite possible that it is just a harmless thing that your doctor hasn't seen before.

Easily said but try to keep calm. If they thought it was sinister like cancer you’d be on a two week referral. LS could be a possibility, and if it is, it can be managed with medication.

Ok deep breath you are not going to be able to guess / predict what this is. Waiting is shit, it encourages your mind to go into overdrive. If it is Lichen sclerosis I would say I had that last year and I was prescribed a steroid cream, it totally cleared up and disappeared.

I’m currently under gynae investigation for abnormal bleeding now. I had an ultrasound a couple of weeks ago and GP wasn’t happy with the result (wouldn’t say exactly what), so I’m booked for a hysteroscopy on 1st July eeek!

I’m refusing to let myself google. Actually I’m more terrified of the test than the result- which I know sounds a bit mad!
