Lake District holiday mid-July - would you go?

We have a lodge with a hot tub booked near Penrith for a week mid-July, for me, dh and dd (6). We are able to cancel it for free anytime up until next week when the full balance has to be paid. As far as we are aware it's still going ahead with the company we have booked through.

We are really torn about going. We usually like to go on walks, visit nice towns with little shops, cafes, pub lunches, crazy golf, ice creams and boat rides for dd, maybe some kayaking. I have no idea if anything will really be open/welcoming tourists. And also worried about the impact on tourists to rural areas with regards to virus spreading/hospitals etc. It's not a huge drive for us (approx 2 hours) but far enough.

We haven't had a holiday for a couple of years and dd has been looking forward to it so much, but I'm unsure about paying out £800 for a week of dd just being bored as we can't do anything (I know there's plenty to do outside but we like a variety!).

Would you go?

basing it on what is open now and the current projected plan for opening. As I also said, it depends what the OP wants to do on her holiday. It may be she is fine with only take away food and limited tourist attractions but some people wouldn't be, they enjoy sitting in cafes, restaurants and bars, which they will probably not be able to do.

Thanks everyone. We have decided to cancel and going to rebook another time.
