Could someone help me with ideas?

I've never been particularly good at arts and crafts, but I'd like a new hobby to try. I'd like something easy to pick up in the evening, not too tricky for a beginner or expensive, and something that I can create or make for people possibly. Any ideas? Thanks

Jewellery making. Look at YouTube and teach yourself to wire wrap, you’ll soon be a whizz and its so lovely to make your own creations. They can be as cheap or expensive as you like.

Or candle making. Another lovely thing to make.

Face masks? Too topical?

Crochet or knitting- easy to get materials a million online tutorials, even if you never progress beyond squares you can still make something from them (maybe for Wooly Hugs?)

Pottery would be great fun, I'm unsure of the costs though.

Cross stitch. You can buy very small projects in a kit and contains everything you need for under £10. Make sure to start with a '14 count aida' kit as it's nice a big for beginners. The kit will tell you what count it is :-)

Crochet, definitely! Buy some yarn and a hook and away you go. Use attic24 tutorials and YouTube- start with a granny square.

I think I might like crochet! Will take a look at some tutorials.

Calligraphy is a cheap thing to get started at although you need to practise A LOT. Grin You can make cards, posters, add text to existing images, scrapbook, bullet journal etc etc

There are some amazing calligraphers on Instagram who I follow- I find the videos so calming to watch!

The nice thing about crochet/knitting is that you can pick it up for ten minutes, rather than having to set aside an hour or more for some hobbies/crafts. If you keep your project handy, all those little five minutes you get here and there (waiting for the bath to run, waiting for the children to brush their teeth, waiting for the kettle to boil, waiting for the potatoes to boil etc etc) soon become productive.

Have you thought of card making, it’s relaxing, creative and you can often use recycled items from home?

christmasboysx2 · 14/06/2020 18:12

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for - something easy to pick up where I get the chance! I've never done anything like it before though. I think I'll start with trying crochet and hope it's not too tricky. I'm up for a bit of a challenge though!

Crochet - look for Bella Coco or Girlybunches on YouTube, both have amazing tutorials
