Could/would your Y13 tutor a Y10 via zoom?

Am wondering if this is happening anywhere? If you have a Y13 would they want to do online tutoring to help younger students struggling to stay motivated with home learning? It might be a great way to earn a load of money and I’m sure there is demand - Y10 DD is doing less and less as time goes on and it doesn’t go well if I try to get involved, not least because I don’t really understand GCSE science myself Confused there are obviously people who offer this as a job but I wondered if A-level students would offer a cheaper alternative and some same-ish age level interaction in these weird times! What do you think?

Asked my DD1 and she said she would. She tutored a girl in her year before lockdown - obviously face to face. Chemistry, Biology and Geography are her A Levels and therefore strengths. She is off to study Medicine in September so that will let you know her GCSE grades.

Yes, some might but you also have to consider safeguarding for both students. No reason not to have a Y13 tutor but establish ground rules about who else is in the room while tutoring takes place; I'd consider making sure you or another adult are around during Zoom times.

My son was tutored by a first year uni student for his gcses last year. I would have no problem with a u I ir A level student doing the same for my daughter via Zoom (or whatever). She is able enough to tell me if something untoward goes on - surely a quick way to end a potentially lucrative sideline!
