Can anyone recommend a really good book? I haven't been very well for a while and have completely stopped reading. It seems like an effort but I know it would be good for my mental health, and once I got into it I would read it. What is your favorite book? Can anyone help? Thank you in advance (if I get any replies!)

I don't know what genre you like but here's some of my favourites:

Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
The shining by Stephen King
The Angela Marsons detective series about Kim Stone
The power of the dog by Don Winslow

What sort of genre do you like? I like a good mix, depending on my mood.

Laura Purcell's Silent Companions and The Corset are great gothic horror.

Rivers of London series for magic & mystery. Also The Dresden Files.

Terry Pratchett for fantasy comedy.

Patricia Cornwell & Val McDiarmad for crime.

The Rushed series by Brian Harmon is good.

Some Stephen King - especially The Shining, Salem's Lot, Carrie, Misery, The Green Mile, Mr Mercedes series and most of his short story anthologies.

Some of my recent favourites:

Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo.
Educated by Tara Westover.
Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell.
Frenchman’s Creek by Daphne Du Maurier.
Olive Kitteridge/Olive Again by Elizabeth Strout.

I enjoyed reading Nick Spalding's 'Logging Off' recently. It's about a man who decides to detox from using the Internet for a month. A nice easy and funny read I thought.
