At what time in the evening should neighbours garden party music stop?

In the summer, they have a Saturday night family gathering with music every warm weekend. The music they play can be heard inside our house.
At what time in the evening can I reasonably think the garden music should stop? Anything I’ve googled refers to noise level rather than time of day.
Not planning to ask them to stop as that would be extremely awkward but interested to know what you think.

@Mammyof22020 what would you advise if you can't approach your neighbours about it or their patterns of activity show they don't care and aren't going to change?

@Ormally if you can't or don't feel comfortable approaching them you could contact your local authority environmental health department. I would advise having as much info as possible when speaking to someone - so how long the noise has been going on for, when it occurs how long is the noise happens, times, dates, how intrusive it is - you can hear it over your TV with the windows and doors closed for example or you can make out what song is playing. A noise diary is always a good in cases like this.

If the local authority has access to the noise app I would advise downloading this, if not you could try and record the noise on a phone.

Most local authorities will usually send a letter to whoever is making the noise making them aware of a complaint and what would happen if an investigation is carried out etc.

Be prepared to be making lots of recordings, diaries etc. The local authority needs evidence to show a noise nuisance is occuring.

If you don't feel comfortable contacting the local authority or speaking to neighbours a note is always an option.

Mammy I'm currently doing my EH degree Wink. Do you love your job?

Thank you for the advice. Not pushed so far yet, but we have had to move any room needed for regular sleeping or working to one side of the house only (i.e. swapping over where possible) in the last few years, and as many others have said, can rarely enjoy our own garden without a lot of background noise, so it's good to know.

To the OP - I moved into my property last year. I have contacted the council 3 times. 101 and 999 numerous times. And the neighbours just keep going on and on playing loud music, yelling, shouting, singing loud. until 3, 4, 5am. I have to keep at it. They know how to play the game. They occasionally stop for a while and then they come back start up again. Don't know what else to do. I feel like the neighbours around me don't do much about it. Some have yelled out their windows to make them stop, but they just carry on.
