Low lying placenta and anterior placenta

I’m nearly 25 weeks pregnant and in a bit of a state at the moment. I had a bleed two days straight after sexual inter course, it scared me to death. I have a low lying placenta and have also found out it’s anterior aswell. I was admitted into hospital and transferred to a hospital that could deal with very early babies. I have had a previous c section with my son who is five and they were concerned the placenta had attached to the scar. I dread the thought of another c section and delivering my baby so early. The bleeding has since stopped and baby’s heartbeat is fine, they wanted to keep me in longer but having a 5 year old and with the current virus crisis I’ve found it very difficult so I had to leave. I’ve arrived home today and am just so worried. If any ladies can relate it would be much appreciated. Thank you so much xx

Poor you, this is such a horrible thing to find out. I had this although I didn’t bleed very much, and it was further on luckily - but I don’t have the baby early.
I’m afraid no sex is true from now on and they won’t let you go into labour but I got to full term (or nearly) with my baby. Unless the placenta moves as the baby grows and the womb stretches. It’s as if you imagine a bit of chewing gum on the inside of a balloon, so it might move up but it might not. As you know if it doesn’t move you will have to have a c-section but it doesn’t have to be early unless you have a major bleed and I promise you an elective c-section is a very calm thing compared to the shock and pain of an emergency at the end of hard labour. My recovery was much quicker and easier than people who went through vaginal delivery.

Be very clear with your family and friends that if you have even the tiniest bleed they need to call an ambulance at once and get you to hospital. No ifs, no buts. I had a small bleed towards the end of my pregnancy and I’ve always felt it was because I had walked a lot the day before so people need to know you have to take it easy. It used to be that women with this condition were kept in hospital in bed rest for the whole pregnancy but thank god that’s not the practice now.
It is perfectly possible to get to 38 weeks and have a healthy baby.

It is frightening, definitely it is, but a small tear in the placenta can clot and heal, as yours has done. Every day that goes by your baby is getting bigger and stronger. Sending lots of support and placenta-healing vibes Flowers

Thank you for your kind message Fingerbobs. I’ve woken up this morning with a light browny coloured amount on my pad, when I wipe there’s nothing but there was some in the toilet when I peed. I don’t understand why there’s nothing then this again. I’m so stressed and can’t get to the hospital, my local hospital can’t do anything and the only one is miles away. I can’t get up there again, this is a complete nightmare.

I can only add that there is a chnace the placenta will move. With my second child the placenta was covering the cervix, but by 34 weeks it had moved away and she was born normally at 39 weeks.
Take care of yourself 💐

Do you have a midwife you can phone? Please call her or your local doctor. They will get you to the hospital if you need to be there. I would call a friend or relative now and let them know they might need to take your 5 year old at short notice. Take some deep breaths and hang in there Flowers
