Applying for a job waaay above my pay grade?

Hi

I've seen a job advertised, went through the person spec & job description, yep can do all of that easily, got all of the experience and qualifications.

But then I saw the pay - it's 3 x what I earn at the moment, into 6 figures which is a huge salary around here.

So my immediate thought is no, I couldn't do that. Had I not seen the salary I'd have applied straight away.

Talk me into it! Because all I can think of is no, for that salary they want more than me Blush

Agree with the others, apply and don't disclose your current salary. If you have the skills then there is no reason not to apply.

Apply for it!

I did this just before lockdown - the job & person specs match my qualifications & experience but the salary is double my current salary with a company car included something I'd never get in my current role. I got invited to interview (which is currently on hold due to lockdown).

I've decided I'm clearly woefully underpaid in my current role Grin

Go for it, nothing to lose everything to gain! Lots of luck

Do not declare your current salary, that is irrelevant. They have declared what they are willing to pay for the righr candidate. Now the only thing to be worked out if they want to offer you the job and then if you want to accept.

Someone once pointed out to me that because women are still more likely to be paid less than a man in an equivalent role, any company that wants to base a salary offer on your current salary has probably got some work to do on gender representation.
