We are all a bit fed up. What can we do today?

One bored 8 year old who's refusing to do much at all. DH likely to disappear into his office unless I come up with a plan. It's going to rain.
What are you doing today that will be fun?

Ah sorry it’s finally going to be a sunny day here. Children have their online gym classes this morning, music practice then going out in the boat this afternoon.

Not much help to you! In the last few rainy days we’ve done a crafty project. But I only got away with that because we hadn’t done one in ages.
We’ve still been going out for walks if the rains not too heavy

HeartZone · 13/06/2020 08:46

Gorgeous weather here, off to an outdoor yoga class this afternoon and sooooo excited! First class back after lockdown, smaller size classes in the outdoors.

Timeforabiscuit · 13/06/2020 08:52

I don't have access to a boat or yoga class (but those sound amazing!).

Depends how silly your family are, but we've been having Mohawk day, now that everyone s hair is getting too long.

Ghostlyglow · 13/06/2020 08:53

I'll be going for a walk. I always go for a bloody walk. Walk, walk, walk. Grin

Rainbowqueeen · 13/06/2020 08:55

Masterchef mystery box challenge? Find 3 ingredients that you know your DC likes and they have to use one of them

Look up funny stuff on utube

Try an audible story eg David walliams

FaceTime family/friends

Design a kahoots quiz each. Make the others do it

Try a kick boxing class followed by yoga - look at fitness blender on utube for tonnes of options

Does DC usually have a shower? If so let them have a bath instead but make it really luxurious with bubbles etc

Make a mock tail or hot chocolate using real chocolate

Are there any birthdays coming up? You could do some homemade cards as a craft activity.
Any break in the weather, put on your coats and head out for a brisk walk

Sunshinegirl82 · 13/06/2020 08:57

Crazy golf? Ones round here are open!

PickledLily · 13/06/2020 08:58

Going out in a boat sounds fantastic! What a great thing to be able to do.
I think our hair has gone past the Mohawk stage. We are looking more Cousin Itt here.

DD refusing to do crafts. She's been in front of a screen all week while we work so have banned YouTube today.
We did puddle jumping yesterday, I might be able to persuade her out for another walk.
What's a kahoots quiz?

Big walk in a local forest, or beach, I know its raining but actually I really like the beach in the rain, seems to be more crabs in rock pools etc to find, baking, build a den and have a film with snacks you've baked earlier, bike ride, plan to redo your garden if it needs it all draw up a new plan and go to the garden centre for the bits. Family games scrabble monopoly etc and keep track if the winner who can then choose what's for tea or something.
I know what you mean though the weather is a huge factor in lockdown on how bored we really can become!

Choice4567 · 13/06/2020 09:05

I know we are very lucky to have one, and access to the river.

Could you decorate the lounge to look like a cinema? And set up the popcorn stand and sweet stand (if you have those foods. Or a crisps and biscuit stand) with them in big bowls. Then you have to ‘buy’ them in smaller bowls. Just eeks out the watching a film process. Move chairs around so it looks more cinema like

PickledLily · 13/06/2020 09:15

There are some great ideas, thank you!

The problem I've found with setting stuff up is that it takes forever, DD refuses to help, and then the fun but is over in 3 minutes flat. DD is a novelty seeker, with no ability to stick at things whatsoever.

I might see if she'll do some diy. Very envious of you all having access to beaches and forests!

Could DD open a cafe or restaurant?
My 8 year old chose a dinner, I bought it and she served it. Also did menus, romantic music, pretended to be concierge. I even telephoned her to book the table.
Took all day!!

DeathMetalMum · 13/06/2020 09:31

We were forecast rain here but it's looking clear so we are heading out for a long(ish) walk this morning. It's always quieter on our local route in the morning. Then this afternoon we have some sunflowers that we are planting into the ground from pots. Dd's are both trying to earn a green Blue Peter badge, that you can do online at the moment so this will be one of the things they're going to submit for it. Maybe she might be interested in that?

We're also halfway through a lego project of building some of their sets that they have over the last year or so mixed up and built other stuff from which is a bit of a challenge but we're enjoying when the weather is rubbish.

Smallinthesmoke · 13/06/2020 09:34

Or build a den? DH even pitched a tent in the garden and they slept in that. We have been known to pitch the tent in the living room when it rains.
Go and see a friend (socially distanced obviously)? Could involve a book or toy swap?
Rearrange her bedroom? extra points for slightly unusual stuff like posters on the ceiling.
I know you said no screens but mine is also enjoying online crosswords and word searches.
I feel your pain Flowers

waltzingparrot · 13/06/2020 09:42

Could you just give everyone paper and pencil and you all sit round the kitchen table and draw the person to your right. Put a time limit on it. Good time to discuss interesting topics or listen to an audiobook together. Plus, get ahead and order some air drying clay for next weekend's family time.

Geocaching!

Unless it’s heavy rain, just go out for a bit anyway. Things are usually much better if you get out for a bit. Go somewhere nice green and get some nature therapy.
Bribe with snacks, hot chocolate or screen time.
We’re going out for a walk in the woods, popping over to say hello to grandparents, baking a cake and watching a film after dinner.

Chimchar · 13/06/2020 09:54

Nail painting...try some nail art
"Cooking"...crispy cakes, rocky road, fridge cake.
Stop motion Lego film
Online exercise class
Den building
Treasure hunt...print off a list from the internet and go out walking to find the things
Rock painting
Art project....make a rainbow for the window?
Pottering in the garden
'Spa day' ... bubble bath, face mask, hand massage...
Cinema day at home.
Room tidy!! Wink

confusedofengland · 13/06/2020 10:46

Take a picnic to somewhere with big trees you can shelter under, if it is only light rain. Or put on waterproofs & go puddle-jumping.

AHintOfStyle · 13/06/2020 11:03

Chucking it down here today. However, we've taken the dog out and also been to Grandad's for a Happy Birthday visit in his path. Now everyone's tidying their rooms and going to do some reading.
After lunch we're going to get the badminton racquets inside and play badminton with balloons.
