I'm 45 and I've just placed an order with Age Concern UK for me......

So I've just ordered Reusable incontinence pads from Age Concern because they tell you how much volume they can absorb (150 mls if you are interested)....I'm too young for this, it's depressing😢 I weed myself to day while running to an emergency at work, that was the trigger.....

I've so many gynae issues over the years and it's just getting worse. Had forceps with ds1, then 10lb+ ds2, then cervical cancer and radical hysterectomy, vault prolapse and still have a large rectocele and urinary incontinence.

If covid 19 ever ends, today has been the catalyst to get me to the GP😫

Oh bless you; sorry to read that you’ve been through so much. Can you get a telephone appointment on Monday?
I’ve got a hospital urology appointment Monday as I went through a period of bed wetting. I’m 43.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 12/06/2020 21:37

Sorry to here you are going through it too @aibutohavethisusername💐 I hope your urology appointment goes okay, bed wetting is not what you expect in your 40's😢💐 It's just depressing isn't it. I spent the day in a nappy I stole from my ward and was too ashamed to tell anyone😳 Shouldn't be such a taboo, it's a shame.

TBH I've had problems for a few years but I haven't wee'd like I did today since I started wearing pantyliners. I will wait until things have settled down with covid and then contact the GP.

I've got gin, I'm feeling much better about the whole thing now🥂🤣

Well that sounds like a sensible pragmatic short-term solution.
Now look after yourself and get yourself seen next week.

I'm sorry to hear that, and a put you cervical cancer, can I ask you about your vault prolapse please. I have a rectocele, vaginal prolapse and bladder prolapsing into vagina, with incontinence of urine, and occasionally faeces. Im on tamoxifen for breast cancer and had whooping cough, so no oestrogen to keep my pelvic floor together. I've been offered surgery but don't know what to do. I'm concerned if I have a hysterectomy ill end up with a vault prolapse. I'm 56 but active and not willing to stop doing stuff! I use a ring pessary atm, but it's hard having intercourse with it. Have they said they will repair your vault prolapse?

redeyetonowheregood · 12/06/2020 22:02

Please don't wait until things settle down with covid. Things are much better now, rates are low. My GP is really accessable just now on the phone. Plus, there are likely to be long waits for referrals and scans so best get in the system now. Incontinence is awful. there are pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments plus exercises which could help. Please don't put it off.

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 12/06/2020 22:06

Poor you, that sounds dreadful. I don't know if you have a bit of spare cash, but there's an exercise programme I did after I had kids which helps strengthen pelvic floor muscles and there are special adaptations for people with prolapse. The person who runs it is passionate about helping women avoid or get away from exactly that sort of situation. It's called mutu system. A bit pricey, but lots of very good advice and exercises. Might be worth a look? Alongside medical expertise, of course.

aibutohavethisusername · 12/06/2020 22:06

Enjoy your gin & ring them on Monday morning.

Fingers crossed the bed wetting is over for me now; this is a follow up appointment. Let us know how you get on.

SharpieInThe · 12/06/2020 22:20

You are not alone and I'm so sorry you felt ashamed, you have nothing to be ashamed of.

I hope you are able to get an appointment quickly and that they are helpful.

notacooldad · 12/06/2020 22:30

I was this when I was 34 afterDS2 was born nearly 21 years ago.
I was refereed to a consultant and tried various things. Eventually I had an operation when DS2 was one years old. It was the best thing I have done!
Please get help,it will change your life.

agentnully · 12/06/2020 22:31

I agree with others here. This has been the push you need. No one should suffer like this.

In the meantime make a start. Set your alarm and start your exercises. The Mutu as already mentioned and check out pelvicexercises.com.au to get you going.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 13/06/2020 02:49

Thank you guys for all your kind messages, I will prioritize contacting the GP.

@NaomiShapiro I'm sorry to hear about your health problems, that sounds rough💐 I had the cancer diagnosis and hysterectomy 15 years ago And was diagnosed with the vault prolapse aBout 3 years later. They did repair the vault prolapse and that has been fine since. Unfortunately I think the main issue I had at the time was the rectocele which they didn't repair and I've still got. They did offer me further surgery but after 2 operations in about 3 years, I couldn't face anymore treatment and it had impacted on my children who were very young at the time. I do regret living with the rectocele for so long as it has worsened over the years but you can't turn the clock back can you....

The vault prolapse has been fine since and I don't have any issues with sex thankfully. I would just be mindful that they needed to address each of your issues separately as from my experience, the hysterectomy caused the issues rather than solved it. GP I wish you all the best.

Another one here who says don’t wait to call the GP. They are open and are screaming out for people to attend with non Covid conditions. Hospitals are gettings back up and running for outpatients too (as I suspect you may be referred to urology). I work in a hospital (non clinical). Its absolutely safe to attend doctors/hospitals if you need too.

I had to book a GP appt for myself last friday (non Covid). Called at 3.30pm. Phone all back from GP at 3.50pm. Seeing GP face to face at 4.20pm. And I wouldn’t have classed myself as urgent. They will be happy to see you.

GinasWig · 13/06/2020 05:45

Good luck op. Your body has gone through so much..bladder issues are far more common than most of is care to admit.

Naomishapiro · 13/06/2020 21:54

Thanks doyouthink, that's helpful. They weren't up front with me initially about needing separate surgery for the incontinence. Disappointing Hmm
I hope you get sorted, I have had some close calls at work too, it's not nice Flowers
