Should I LTB?

Hi all! I’ve namechanged as I have posted about this before and didn’t want to be identified.

I just need to know if I’m expecting too much or not?

Partner of 15 years, four kids together, big messy house. He’s furloughed and I’m a sahm.

Since furlough started he has been a bit low, but then took up a new hobby and now does his hobby every day, as well as going out on his bike, every day. He’s not out all day but at least half of the day.

When he is here he only makes lunch for the kids when I ask him to. Does absolutely nothing else! No dishwasher, no laundry, no cleaning. Even told me he “didn’t want to” when I said he should clean the loo (for the first time ever).

When not furloughed, he works very hard and I pick up the slack at home but the point is, he has all the time in the world right now and there a list of diy jobs as long as my arm, let alone all the other everyday tasks.

He’s a shit, isn’t he? Any ideas of how I can get him to do more around the house? Or should I LTB?

You can’t force him. Leave him. He is a lazy fucker.

I’ve just had a really stressful bedtime with the kids- he’s out on his bike of course, funny how these trips out always coincide with bedtime! I’m really fucking fed up, and you’re right. It’s not like I haven’t tried before.

What a lazy father. What are his good points?

Honestly? He works very hard (when he is at work!) He gets me treats when he’s out (brings me chocolates etc) but now I realise he’s just trying to buy me, isn’t he?

I would say he’s good with the kids but I don’t even know if I can say that right now! He adores them and they him, and he’s lovely with them on the whole, but I don’t like the way he speaks around them and the way he is with one of my sons.

I feel bad because I just had a massive rant at the kids about how nobody respects me (WHICH IS TRUE) but it’s totally aimed at him and not really them (though they were misbehaving so not entirely innocent!) What a mess.

Anyone been through this and managed to persuade the lazy man child to grow up and start pulling his weight?
