Air conditioner question, WWYD?

I'm making a purchase decision and could use someone to bounce it off.

We're expecting a hot summer (supposedly, but you never know) and our flat can get insanely hot. I've decided to splurge on a small portable air conditioner to make life a bit more pleasant when we can't go out much. And I have to work here too!

What I'm wondering about is this: should I go for the +/- 300 model by Bodin (never heard of them) or +/- 500 for the De'Longhi?

The De'Longhi is of course a better brand and gets great reviews. It is more attractive and has more features, but at the end of the day I just want something to keep the room cool. The remote control isn't that important to me, it's a small room so I can just walk over to turn the thing on and off!

The Bodin would be purchased from a big company so I'm not worried about servicing etc if it turns out to be faulty. No problems there.

No clue what to do. The +/- 200 difference is a lot of money to me, but I am prepared to pay more for a better unit. WWYD or what else would you consider?

Basically: I'm tending towards the De'Longhi because I like it better, but I'm wondering whether I'm just being snobby/silly and should just get something that will presumably still do the job, even if it's slightly louder or has other minor drawbacks. It's a big price difference.

If £200 is a lot of money, why spend it on a bet that we might have a hot summer?

Good question Ifailed, well, we had a stinking hot summer last year and I only got through it by going to the office. So I've decided to buy an aircon one way or another --> if this year isn't as awful as they've said it will be, I'm sure I'll still get some use out of it next year or the year after. I've made the decision to make the purchase. The question is then really WHICH aircon to buy.
