What to do in Cornwall if NT houses are closed.

Had my entire intinary planned around NT properties. But it's looking unlikely that they'll be open by the end of July. What else can I do. Staying very close to the Eden project. So that may be an option. I'm there for five days. Not into posh restaurants or bars.

Are you sure you'll be able to go at all? Our holiday at the end of June has been cancelled and if it hadn't have been we wouldn't have gone. Seems pretty clear the locals don't want visitors atm.

Hotels etc are supposed to be opening from 4 July. Maybe by the end of July houses will be too, at least by appointment.

The eden project is open or opening soon, you need to book online though. Beach and cliff walks. I expect there will be much more in the way of things open by then, and maybe even NT properties, its 6+ weeks away yet.

Don’t know what will be open but there are some lovely walks round there. Cycling camel trail and the clay trails. Beaches, Charlestown, the lost gardens at Heligan are re-opening. Restormel castle if English Heritage allow.

If you have transport and don’t mind walking it’s nicer when it’s quiet.

Walk. Cornwall is gorgeous for simply walking. Miles and miles and miles of their lovely coast path.

IndecentFeminist · 10/06/2020 13:05

Go to the beach.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/06/2020 13:53

My hotel is hoping to open on the 4th July. I've not paid for it yet so not an issue if it's cancelled. Will book the Eden project.

I know that locals aren't keen on visitors, my sister lives in the Lake District and it's pitchforks and broom sticks up there! But their economy is tourism based and I bet a lot of small business will be desperate for custom.

Walk. Take food and water with you, poo bags to defecate into (dispose in bins).

This. But also the grounds of some NT are open. Trelissick gardens is open to NT members but I think you need to book your visit.

I have been to Cornwall numerous times and I don't I think I've ever visited a NT house. If I have I don't recall it.

There is so much else to do in Cornwall I am very surprised that you are asking!

As zoos are able to open again next week, maybe the monkey sanctuary at Looe will be open? It’s an interesting place to visit.
