Office chair

I'm suffering greatly with coccyx pain whilst sitting either on a dining chair or my office chair. It's so painful to get up from the chair.

Anyone suggest a good chair for this ? Not too fussed on price but don't want to spend silly money!

Just want to be able to stand up and not be in pain!

I’m a facilities manager

This is the one I usually send to our home workers. It’s pretty decent, especially for the price.

Posturite do some great chairs too, but they are expensive. Is the coccyx pain a recent thing or related to an injury?

Freedom chairs by human scale are the best (IMO) but can retail at close to £1000

Thank you! The ones I've seen were near £1000 and I can't spend that kind of money on a chair.

It's a recent thing as I'm now office based (I wasn't previously) and every time I tried to stand up it's so painful it takes me a while to actually stand!

Would you consider a second hand chair on ebay? Some chairs which are £1,000 new are available for ~£250.

Buy the humanscale chair. It’s amazing!

hardyloveit · 10/06/2020 12:44

Thank you will have a good browse! I don't mind second hand as long as it's in good condition.

Is it the way I'm sitting that's causing the pain?

It's 90% the chair. Go for the Humanscale from ebay if you can afford it :)

It could be. What type of company do you work for? They might have someone who can do a DSE assessment. If not, posturite can do them and make suggestions of how to best adjust your chair. There’s guides available on how to set it up.

One thing I find makes a big difference is a foot rest. Because it lifts my feet, it pushes me back so I can’t lean forward

I bought one of these cushions when I bruised my tailbone in a riding accident.
Cheaper than a whole chair!
If the link doesn’t work it’s called Supportiback and is a memory foam cushion with a cut out at the back so there’s no pressure on your tailbone. I use mine on chairs and in the car too.

Thank you! At the office I have one of those foot things but at home I need a good chair (which I will take into the office once opened again)

I'm going to get one of the ones off eBay. Thank you all for your help
