Tips for efficiency?

I am on a drive to make better use of my 24 hours in the day.

My first thing is to cut out television entirely until Downton Abbey is on. I waste so much time wthcing tv is it quite ridiculous.

I have downloaded the Organised Mum Method sheets as well.

I'd love your tips!

Get off your phone. Honestly, the amount of time we spend in front of screens is such a waste of life.
Not being preachy btw - I'm guilty of this as much as the next person!

I agree KitKat. 100%. I rememeber we had neighbours who watched insane amoutns of tv. i thought; 'when I get to the end of my life i will not be thinking 'I wish i'd watched mroe tv!''.

But I have slipped into a screen habit.

Phone especially MN I would have so much more time if I could put it down for a decent block of time

Have a list every day for what you want to get done.
Stay off the screens til they’re done.
Get all the other members of your household involved in chores too.

Invest some time in properly "training" DC to do chores. My DSs have detailed instructions saved to their phones on bathroom cleaning etc. It's lovely to be able to say OK, one of you clean the bathroom while I cook dinner (or vice versa).

Obviously not if they're tiny, but don't leave it too late either! I think a lot of women's frustrations come from families who don't help enough or don't do things "properly" when they've never been told what's expected.

@LaceCurtains please can you know that you have potentially just changed my life for the better with this advice Smile

This. Plus train DP as well.

Also get baskets.
A basket per person to put all their things in, rather than having them lie around. Take the DC's basket or send them with it up to their room to put things away.
Baskets of toys - rotate them so the toys are swapped regularly and are more interesting, plus less to tidy up.
Basket for everything to take to school or everything you need for home schooling.

Aw thanks whatthefuckamigoingtodo, I hope it goes well.

I've got a lot of things wrong in bringing up boys but this was a good one, I was determined not to raise useless husbands. That and establishing a routine when they were tiny, where they strip their beds and put the sheets in the machine every Monday morning, which means I never have to deal with teenage boys' sheets Grin
