Home mug/china painting kit recommendations - that you can fire in oven and have washproof mugs

Any recommendations? I'd like to do pot painting and need to order some gear off the net as I'm not in the UK. I've done it before in the pot painting shops and enjoyed it so much, so was wondering, can anyone recommend somewhere to get good mugs or other things, and some paints (not pens) that actually are good and when you bake them in the oven they come out as proper mugs that you can use time and again.

Pebeo porcelain paints are fab, just source some plain white mugs and get creating then bake your items in the oven to set the colours. We usually use Baker Ross or Hobbycraft for the paints but only Hobbycraft have them in stock in the UK right now.

There's a starter kit here if you want a bigger stash of the paints to use for other projects in the future or you can search for individual colours. They deliver internationally. Baker Ross over here does have plain mugs (and other cup styles) in stock and they also have sites in other countries so may well have the paints and ceramics you need in stock a lot closer to home.

I don’t think domestic ovens get anywhere near hot enough for this, that’s why potteries have kilns -c.1200 degrees celsius, not 200.

Happy to be corrected though. Our local pottery painting place is doing collect & drop off firing, so it’s worth looking for what is offered close to you.

If you’re just looking for something to make with kids, i had success with buying ceramic christmas tree baubles and just varnishing them after painting.

Most home porcelain paints can be set at 150 in a domestic oven. They obviously won't have that lovely kiln-fired glaze finish but they're effective. We have a Christmas Eve plate that comes out every year which was home painted about 7 years ago and is still going strong.

Pebeo do a range of ceramic and glass paints which you bake in the oven to set

Google pebeo 150 and pebeo 160. I've seen them.on Amazon. eBay and art supplies shops.
