Inexplicable things your child does

My toddler son has recently taken to carefully removing all the books he can reach from the bookshelves, stacking them neatly on the floor, sigh, and return them to the shelf, commenting dolefully "heavy book" from time to time.

It's like Sisyphus, but self-inflicted. Why?

He also hugs bus stops, murmuring "my best friend" affectionately.

And he has recently started having Jekyll n Hyde style personality transformations where he suddenly announces that he is now called Pan-dank and rampages around being destructive, before stopping (" I DSname now again").

What utterly weird things do your children do?

My 3 year old has a "rhubarb doggy" at the allotment. It's a stick of rhubarb tied to twine that she walks and feeds. She cries when we leave him in his greenhouse kennel. 😂

This thread is so cute!!!!

DS has taken to shouting hiya everytime he sees a phone, doesn't matter if its in use or just on the coffee table.
DD when she was about 2 used to tell her shape blocks off when they wouldn't fit in the holes. Serious dressing down and time on the naughty step 🤦‍♀️ not sure if she ever realised that she was in control of putting them in the right holes....

He repeats something one of us has said then shouts "Squawk!"

When my son was in secondary school he used to take a shoebox in a carrier bag for his ‘stuff’. Along with his actual rucksack.

Oh I forgot I started this and after a crappy day, just had a lovely 10 min reading it. Thanks!

@EssentialHummus my 2yo DD calls herself "Madam" - "puuuuuuut Madam dooooown" is a common cry in our house 😂

Before my two year old throws a ball, he squeezes his nose and goes "oooooo ooooo"
I think it's what he thinks a whistle is.
