Lockdown “babymoon” / staycation ideas

My DH and I were due to go to a lovely country house spa hotel type place in the countryside for a baby moon break before our first baby arrives in a couple of months time. The hotel has been cancelled because of covid, obviously, but we still have to take the time off from work and will stay at home but we’re looking for some fun ideas of things to do to still make it an enjoyable week off. I’ll be 7.5 months pregnant and we are being extra careful about covid so don’t want to go anywhere too busy or where we might interact with too many people. So, any ideas of things to do? Some ideas I’ve had so far:

  • a walk and a posh picnic with picnic blanket and the works
  • fancy takeaway date night with some non alcoholic wine (for me!)
  • buy some posh smellies online and try to replicate a spa afternoon?

What else? Happy to spend a bit of money as we are saving a shed load on not going to the hotel Sad Would be good to get some more ideas.

Sleep, sleep and more sleep.

Just leave the house when you want to, and by getting up and just walking out of it, without any palarvar. It will be years before you do it again.

Get afternoon tea delivered

Buy some spa-like robes and get a mat or add or portable jets that goes in the bath to make it hot tub like. Or get a foot spa if that’s too much.

Buy some high thread count bed linen to give your bed a hotel feel

Go for walks in the evenings, that was what I really missed when I had babies, we live on a busy walking route and I used to sit night after night marooned on the sofa feeding baby looking enviously at all the people walking by.

Relaxed breakfasts in the garden. Minimal housework, try and blitz it the week before, also any to do lists then you aren't tempted to use the time doing your tax return or whatever (although I'd recommend getting anything like that out of the way pre-baby).

Thanks for the suggestions so far, liking the idea of no housework! It’s so easy when you’re at home all day to think “oh I’ll just tidy that up” and before you know it 2 hours have passed with doing housework!

During lockdown I’m working at home and have spent every weekend at home, so hoping to also get out and about some too or do some different things we haven’t been doing already. Any other ideas?

What sort of things had you envisaged doing on the holiday apart from the spa? Days out? Restaurants?

Following for ideas! We're in the same boat, I had two weeks in Greece planned just swimming, eating nice meals and napping... so much for that!

I like the idea of a posh afternoon tea or a picnic... and a foot spa

We had planned country walks (I’m still feeling pretty fit), beach walks, nice dinners / cafes / pub gardens, maybe some museums / national trust type places. Happy to do completely Different things just want to do something different to what we’ve been doing for the past 3 months in lockdown Grin

Well, hopefully with social distancing you'll still be able to do things like NT visits, maybe start looking to see if there are any within day trip distance that you haven't been to before. Get in some lovely picnic foods from M&S. Maybe meet up with friends.

The delivery afternoon tea is a good idea, there's a stately home near us doing them.

I hope so! I like the idea of afternoon tea delivery too. Good idea! There is an m&s near us so posh picnic foods would be a good shout too!

Posh picnic and country stroll somewhere near ish in the morning/lunch. Relaxing bath with a load of bubbles, soft classical music, a glass of non-alcohol fizzy bubbly, followed by a massage from DH to lube you up with body lotion. Favourite meal (pre-cooked if poss so you can quickly just shove on reheat, or take away) for dinner. Then get dressed up and have a virtual evening with the national theatre via YouTube with the rest of your non-alcohol fizzy bubbly.
Sleep in the spare room together to jazz up things even more and put a chocolate on your pillow ready for you.
Don't clean up after yourselve all day. (hire a cleaner for the following day too, if you like)!
