Do you drink herbal teas?

I bought a taster pack of herbal tea to try and cut down on caffeine intake.

Just reading up on the ingredients in the bedtime one I'm currently drinking and one of them is harmful to the liver.

It's really put me off and I'm annoyed because I have enjoyed the ones I've tried so far.

Can anybody educate me on herbal tea drinking before I give the box away BlushGrin

I drink nothing but herbal tea. I'd avoid Pukka though - almost all of theirs contain liquorice, as pp said that can cause or exacerbate high blood pressure (and did in my case too). Much better are plain herbal teas. My favourites are: sencha green, jasmine green, peppermint, chamomile. Green tea is refreshing and very good for you, full of anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory.

* ...sencha green, jasmine green*...

Those are green teas, which I agree are good but they're not 'herbal' in the sense people often mean of 'naturally uncaffeinated infusion'. Some green teas have relatively low caffeine, but that's not the case for all (eg matcha).

My favourites are lemon and ginger, mint, and spiced ginger. Not sure about health benefits other than I find mint tea good for helping settle stomach upsets and lemon and ginger nice for sore colds or nausea. Dentist told me lemon and ginger tea is not great for teeth though..

I’ve never tried herbal tea with valerian root but I have friends who do drink it to help with sleep. One of my friends tried a Pukka detox tea a few times and said she had horrible stomach cramps the following day Every time she drank it.

I love Tazo refresh herbal tea, it's mainly two kinds of mint but is refreshing & settles an upset stomach.

Roobios red bush) tea is my fav really. I recommend buying the leaves if you can rather than a tea bag and infuse. I love the chocolate caramel flavour. I buy my redbush tea in my local farm shop or you clan order online. It’s not too expensive and I only need half a teaspoonful for each pot. It’s caffeine free and good for you. Jasmine green tea also- the whole flowers that grow in your cup are divine and pure camomile is calming for night time ( although I don’t much like the flavour ). Teapigs camomile is good.

I was quite unwell a couple of years ago when I suffered pelvic sepsis and interstitial cystitis from a newly fitted and infected coil. I couldn’t have anything acid at all due to my bladder inflammation so was recommended to try Roobios - it really helped my recovery and I still drink it. It’s fabulous!
