September wedding

DHs cousin was due to get married in May and had to cancel for obvious reasons, they have rebooked for early September. A bit optimistic IMO.

We were originally going with our DCs and PILs, it's a few hours drive away so would involve a couple of nights stay. It's all due to take place in a hotel over a weekend, I would say guests of 60+

The couple have assumed all who accepted the May invitation are okay with the new date, we've had no official notification, just a message on social media.

I'm worried about PILs who feel they have to go. I'm thinking this isn't going to be allowed to go ahead surely? PILs don't want to upset the family by declining, I think sit it out for a bit and wait for the officials to say it's not allowed.

What do you think? Are they mad to think this will be allowed?

I’m due to go to 2 weddings in September and as far as they brides and grooms are concerned it will all go ahead ok. They’re a bit stuck as both venues are planning as normal for September as nobody can say what it will be like then and all other weekends are booked up for 2021 😳 so they would have to find a whole new venue but the original venues are both saying they can’t have their money back and can only change date. Life will have to get back to normal at some point but I totally understand why you are worried. I’m
Fully planning on going and I have asthma.

But yeah I think they just shouldn’t say anything for now as if they say they aren’t coming and it causes upset THEN the wedding gets postponed they would feel bad they’ve caused upset for no reason. I’d say just hold tight for now

That's kind of my reasoning for now.

Don't get me wrong i'd love to go, a weekend away with family would be bliss after the last few months. I'm just worried that PILs have self isolated (over 70) and so have we bar the very essential trips.

if they are adult enough to marry then they are hopefully adult enough to accept 'we will be delighted to come if staying away from home and large groups are legal by that date - let's hope so'.
