I have the whole blissful Sunday to myself, what should I do?

DH is working an extra shift on Sunday, meaning I have the whole blissful (potentially rainy) Sunday to myself on my days off.

Apart from doing a couple of dog walks, I have no commitments for the day (although we have no friends yet currently in the area we live, so no social lubricant distancing seeing friends can be done).

So what shall I do? I'm looking for inspiration so I don't end up wasting it watching mind numbing crap tv and scrolling on my phone 😶

What would you do if you had the whole day to yourself?

If it's a rainy day, I enjoy putting on a movie in my bedroom and reorganizing by drawers. Very exciting, I know! But it is nice to have everything sorted and any unwanted items taken out to donate. I also love to reorganize my kitchen cupboards, getting rid of any expired food, wiping them down, etc. The sense of accomplishment and things being tidy is very satisfying to me.

I'd buy some really good picnic type food (king prawns, expensive quiche, nice salad, roast beef, good baguettes) drive to the river, have a lovely walk if the weather was good and just sit in the car with food and coffee watching the world go by if it wasn't. Whatever you do, I hope you have an amazing time

Social lubricant distancing ?? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
That was just meant to be social distancing but now social lubricant distancing sounds intriguing? Would they just slip off if they get too close?

Oh they both sound wonderful!
A good mix of getting some house organising done to feel accomplished with some delicious food and proper "me time". Definitely appealing!

@nomoreflowers that has made me feel really hungry !

AdoptedBumpkin · 05/06/2020 20:43

If you're a reader, do you have any books that you've been meaning to begin or finish off?

TheHighestSardine · 05/06/2020 20:46

Well thanks to that weird autocorrecto all I can think of is masturbating furiously for the whole day. As valid a plan as any!

I would probably watch a box set and eat crap.

I can’t wait for the day to come again when I can send DH and DS off for an entire day and do whatever I want all by myself.

I agree, especially for a rainy day! A light project and then treat yourself with something delicious! Add some wine, too!

Long lie, followed by a long bath, pampering waxing, do hair and makeup. Put on nice clothes. Enjoy a brunch and coffee in peace.

Grab some water and a good book and head to the park. If wet maybe sit in the car and relax there.

Return home. Plan the week ahead. Prepare evening meal. Zoom call some friend.
Walk dog, put on comfy clothes then eat. Glass of wine and early night 😃

What a wonderful day to look forward too! If it was me, and it was this rainy Sunday, I would....

Make a big effort to do all the cleaning, washing, food chopping etc the day before, so the whole day was chore-free. I would cook some soup the day before, so heating it for lunch or dinner would be easy and I wouldn’t have to cook on my day off.

Then, on the day itself, I would sleep in, have a lovely warm bowl of porridge and almonds for breakfast when I didn’t get up. Then a long shower, taking the time to wash my hair, shave, and and generally clean every inch of myself that may be done far more quickly
I think the week.

I’d then get in comfy, warm clothes in the couch and text any old friends to catch up, before calling parents and sisters to have our Sunday chats. Then, I’d curl up with a cup of tea and some chocolate digestive biscuits and my current book that I having been saving to read in a ‘block’ rather than only a bit each evening. This would take me through lunch (heated up soup, and crusty bread roll), and then keep reading til I finish the book in the afternoon. If the rain had cleared, or was light, I’d then go for a walk to move my body, clear my mind and so I sleep that night, and then come back to a hot bath with magnesium salts and watch the Fire Festival documentary on Netflix whilst in there. And also a wine and chocolate :)

I’d then get up, have dinner, and then probably an early night, but watch a movie or a few episodes of a show on my iPad in bed.

And I would feel virtuous all day that all my chores had been done the day before. Otherwise I have a tendency to not enjoy relaxing as I feel I should be doing something!

Enjoy your day!!

Gosh! So mdd as my autocorrect typos! Hopefully you still get the gist of what I wrote.

Ooooft these all sound so perfect! I'm definitely going to map my perfect "me day" tonight so I can take full advantage of it tomorrow!
I think definitely a good combo of some organising I always say I'll do but never get round to, mixed with some pampering, reading and maybe even some drawing or writing.

@TheHighestSardine 🤣🤣 definitely a good way to spend some time as well!
