Anyone ever had this problem with their legs?

For a few weeks now, if I’ve been sitting with bent legs (I.e. curled up on sofa or sitting on heels, or crossed legs etc), when I get up, the backs of my legs (behind knees) basically cannot support my weight for a few moments/steps (I hobble as cant take real steps) but then I can sort of walk it off.

I haven’t injured my legs, doesn’t feel skeletal or muscular, so was wondering if it could be ligaments or tendons or whatever?

Yep. But mostly on my left leg. Started happening 10years ago. Same happens if I’ve been bending down cleaning low down. I have to stagger several steps before it gets better but even when it gets better to walk it still hurts.
Would love to know what it is. Even though I do yoga and am pretty flexible this is an issue (and behind my left knee especially) it is a huge issue. I would also love to know the reason.

Possibly a sprain/strain

Perhaps going forward, try not bend your legs for long periods of time to give them a chance to recover, as you’ve seemingly overexerted yourself. So don’t sit on your heels or cross your legs. Try to keep your legs straight when lying on the sofa and take regular walking breaks and see how you feel in a few weeks time.

@LadyFeliciaMontague have you ever seen anyone about it?

@WitchWindows I hope not I’m only 37!

@Mnthrowaway20202 yes I suppose I could just not sit bend legged but I’d rather treat the cause rather than the symptoms if I can!

Sorry meant to continue that post....

Am also pretty fit I also do yoga, weight training and generally active. It’s only been during lockdown.

As I write that I guess I could have done something to it whilst doing PE with Joe Wicks as that’s a different type of exercise to my normal and more jumping around/impact, but I can’t see how I have actually hurt it as I don’t recall anything hurting whilst I’ve been doing it and I would have thought I could manage a bit of mild HIIT given that I’m quite fit and not old!

Get your vitamin D levels checked. Deficiency can cause awful joint pain and weakness.

iwilltaketwoplease · 05/06/2020 23:26

Yes I'm 26 and experience the same due to a vitamin D deficiency.

I don’t feel like it’s my joints @NEE1302 and @iwilltaketwoplease as it doesn’t feel skeletal, but I can’t 100% pinpoint what it actually is either. I take a multivitamin with 100% of vit D in too so I’m unlikely to be deficient?

I really hope it’s not age! Grin

I think I’m going to lay off the Joe Wicks for a couple of weeks and see if that helps. It’s the only thing I’m doing that could be causing it.

It's funny you mention this because I've experience muscular pain in my leg after doing his adult workouts. I'm pretty fit - I do yoga, dancercise and I run, but three times I've done one of his workouts, and each time a few hours later I got a random pain in my leg. It's not the same leg or the same place.

@WitchWindows You need a blood test to get a definitive answer. I had one as mentioned to my HV after having DD that my knees were weak and wobbly. Turned out my levels were at 18 which is extremely low.
