Covid testing for one year old

I have an appointment booked for a corona test at a testing site today for me and my 2 boys aged 1 and 5 and the info says I have to get in the back of the car and swab then myself! Does anyone have experience of doing that with children of that age? How does it work?

Hi @yomommasmomma I have a test booked for my 1 year old tomorrow. Really reassuring to hear that yours went fine, but I’m struggling to envisage how to get to my baby’s tonsils! Can you share any tips?

yomommasmomma · 25/07/2020 10:33

It will be fine I promise. I don't think I really have any tips, except that it really helps that they are in their car seats. I asked say ahh then quickly did it and held his mouth open slightly. It wasn't pleasant for him at all, especially when it when did his nose, but it was over quickly and honestly not a problem. You will be fine 👍👍

Thanks 🙂 they told me just to swab his nose, not throat, so it wasn’t too bad!

Am glad I saw this thread. My 1 year old had fever for 2 days and workplace would like him tested or the whole family isolated. Have a home test booked in coz there were no slots available for the next week. Hope it goes smoothly.
